A Spirit Halloween Store is horror’s newest star, with some help from Christopher Lloyd

No season of Spooky is complete without a visit to Spirit Halloween. Now the cult chain is making its own feature film.

According to Variety, the seasonal pop-up store has signed deals with Strike Back Studios, Hideout Pictures, and Particular Crowd for a feature-length family film, the aptly titled Spirit Halloween.

Back to the Future’s Christopher Lloyd is set to star alongside her ex-boyfriend Rachel Lee Cook, but character details have yet to be revealed. The cast also includes Donavan Colan, Dylan Frankel, Jaiden Smith, Marissa Reyes and Marla Gibbs.

The new family/kids adventure film follows three middle school friends who think they’ve grown up to cheat and can spend the night trapped in a haunted Halloween shop. The children soon learn that an evil spirit lurks in the store. The demon decides to take possession of the store’s animatronic display and bring a spooky character to life. The three friends must endure the night without being detected by evil spirits.

It is directed by David Poag and makes his feature film debut from a screenplay by Billie Bates.

The synopsis reminds us of another Christopher Lloyd Halloween movie, RL Stines When Good Ghouls Go Bad. In the 2001 TV movie, Lloyd starred as his beloved uncle who returned from the dead to save Halloween with his fearless nephew. The two embark on an adventure full of zombies involving high school thugs, a murder furnace, and a town afraid to celebrate all Halloween festivities.

Spirit Halloween is currently in production and is scheduled for release in October 2022. I hope Nick Lutsko has already written the topic.
