Adam Sandler discovers a basketball prodigy in trailer for Netflix’s Hustle

The Netflix summer movie list is set to kick off with the release of Adam Sandler’s Hustle. The new trailer for the movie gives a glimpse of the emotional sports drama that will land on streaming platforms this June.

Here, Sandler plays basketball scout Stanley Sugerman, who has lost his love for the job. He is sent around the world to scout the talents of the Philadelphia 76ers as his dream of becoming a coach has yet to come true. Until he discovered Spanish street ball player Bo Cruz (played by NBA player Juancho Hernangómez) with great potential under Stanley’s wing.

The trailer shows him turning his back on scouts as he dedicates all his energies to building Beau’s career. However, the road to the top does not seem to be easy. In the two-minute clip, we see the couple coping with Bo’s homesickness and self-doubt, Stanley’s overbearing boss, and the pressures of family life on both. The trailer gives a glimpse of Stanley’s wife Teresa (Queen Latifah) and his boss, Ben Foster. But can the weak win?

The new film will be directed by Jeremiah Zagar, produced by Sandler and featuring basketball legend LeBron James. Part of Sandler’s Netflix deal, which also includes Murder Mystery 2 starring Jennifer Aniston, currently in post-production. He is also directing the biographical film Spaceman based on the life of Czech astronaut Jakub Procházka for the platform later this year.

Hustle releases on Netflix on June 8th. In the meantime, check out our guide to the best Netflix movies to watch.
