AEW Dealing With Injury To Owen Hart Memorial Winner Adam Cole
The injury bug has swept through professional wrestling over the last week or so. Punk will be out of action for some time, while on the WWE side, Cody Rhodes could miss upwards of half a year with a torn pectoral muscle. Toss in Danielson dealing with a short-term issue and Scorpio Sky tweaking his leg on AEW Rampage, and suddenly it looks like a good thing both companies have such stacked rosters.
For AEW, these issues are necessitating major changes to the Forbidden Door pay-per-view. Punk won’t be able to work with Hiroshi Tanahashi as initially planned, while Cole might not be able to do much of anything physical, regardless of who shows up from New Japan. Thankfully, it sounds like he’ll at least be available to work on that card. There are numerous high-end matches that he could take part in, given his history with The Bullet Club and the promotion on the whole. That faction has been featured heavily during recent NJPW events and seems poised to strike at the heart of AEW within the next week or two.
