AviaGames Study Reveals Moms Are the New Mobile Gamers

40% is used to manage stress

Mobile game developer AviaGames released the results of a Mother’s Day survey to show the growing audience of moms playing video games to relieve stress.

The survey, conducted in early April 2022, asked more than 33,000 female gamers across the United States about their gaming habits, including why they gamble and how it affects their lives. Some results show that 40% play mobile games for stress management, and about 65% play up to 4 hours a day.

The survey also revealed changes in gaming behavior. More than 50% of gaming mothers worked full-time and more than 10% worked part-time. Interestingly, the survey found that nearly half of respondents play games rather than spend time with important people.

Mobile gaming can also deliver unintended cost savings, as more than 40% of respondents gamble rather than shop or sleep. And 60% play actively and continue to perceive themselves as hardcore.

This figure shows how popular mobile games are in the gaming industry. Statista’s other figures show that the mobile gaming market accounts for 57% of global video game revenue.
