Biggest Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Leaks & Rumors

In May, popular leaker Riddler Khu claimed to be teasing Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Legendary leaks by posting several Pokémon Masters EX screenshots. After months of riddles, the account then appeared to reveal that the Gen 9 Legendaries would be ridable and were both Dragon-types. Eyebrows were raised when Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon were revealed, and both seemed to be Dragons designed around vehicles. Koraidon for instance, had a major wheel on its chest while Miraidon seemed to have rocket engines on its legs.

Rumors around the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Legendaries were sparked further when Riddler Khu teased additional information about the Gen 9 box art mascots. In a second post made after the new trailer, the leaks account claimed that the new Legendaries have a total of 5 forms they can transform into. This new information caused many Pokémon fans to theorize that Koraidon and Miraidon would be able to change into five different vehicles to ride around the new open-world region. The Legendaries would work similarly to Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ Pokémon mounts which allowed players to fly, climb mountains, and even swim across bodies of water.

This Gen 9 Legendary rumor really began to pick up traction when eagle-eyed fans spotted an interesting detail about the new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet box art revealed in the second trailer. Under each Legendary Pokémon, there are five logos that run in a square. Many believe that the logos on the artwork are symbols for each of the five forms that are rumored to be in the game. In the June 1 trailer, there also appears to be a motif of vehicles with the new Scarlet and Violet Pokémon Centers now being changed into gas stations. All of these rumors have created a pretty compelling theory about Koraidon and Miraidon.

Pokémon-Type Change Mechanic Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

When Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was originally announced in February, Pokémon fans combed over the announcement trailer for any clues about Gen 9’s new mechanic. During a scene where a new city was revealed, many took notice of the peculiar star circle that was positioned in the middle of the town. The unique floor design featured all 18 Pokémon-types on each point of the star.

Speculation about the star floor symbol was raised further when fans on Reddit discovered that the Japanese version of the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet logo had a star icon that looked very similar. Going back to previous generations, the Japanese versions of each generation’s titles have always featured the logo for the new region mechanic. In Gen 8, for instance, Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Dynamax mechanic had its logo in the Japanese version of the box art.

Rumors began to swirl around Gen 9, claiming that players would be able to add a third type to their Pokémon. On social media, many fans theorized that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s mechanics would allow players to switch their Pokémon’s type in the middle of battle. While there is no confirmation of this, the Japanese logo seems to hint at something star-related.

Time Travel May Be A Major Part Of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Following the reveal of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Legendaries Koraidon and Miraidon, a rumor about time-traveling in Gen 9 began to pop up online. Throughout the new three-minute trailer, there appear to be themes about the past and future. For instance, Legendary Koraidon is made up of organic flesh, while Miraidon appears to be built with robotic parts. In a close-up shot in the new Pokémon Scarlet & Violet gameplay trailer, Miraidon can even be seen with a digital eye that looks like an LCD screen.

The new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Pokémon Professors also seem to play into this theme. In Pokémon Scarlet, Professor Sada is wearing pre-historic clothing compared to Pokémon Violet Professor Turo’s futuristic attire. With both Koraidon and Miraidon appearing to be tied to the past and future, a rumor on social media claimed that the Gen 9 Legendaries’ were tied to time-traveling. The trailer can be viewed below:

According to the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet rumors, Koraidon time-traveled into the future and eventually became the robotic Miraidon. While there is no concrete proof, the theory isn’t that far-fetched considering that the protagonist of Pokémon Legends: Arceus traveled back in time to the Hisui region. This is also not the first time the franchise has had Sci-Fi themes, as Gen 7 Pokémon Sun and Moon’s Ultra Beasts originated from Worm Holes.

Despite Pokémon Scarlet and Violet releasing this Fall, there is still a lot of mystery surrounding the upcoming RPGs. Fans still don’t know the name of Gen 9’s region or the game’s new mechanic. With the massive excitement surrounding Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, there will likely be more leaks and rumors to hit online as players desperately wait for more information. Only time will tell which ones end up being accurate when the game launches on November 18 on the Nintendo Switch.
