Burn a Gapless Audio CD in Windows Media Player 12

Using gapless mode in WMP

When listening to an audio CD, are you annoyed by the quiet pauses between individual songs? Burn seamless audio CDs in Windows Media Player 12 to create seamless music, seamless podcast series, or custom compilations of seamless audio recordings.

The instructions in this article apply to Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 7.

You need to configure WMP to burn audio CDs, set it to seamless mode, and add music to burn CDs without spaces.

Not all CD/DVD drives support gapless burning. If you receive a message about this effect, you cannot burn gapless discs.

Open Windows Media Player.

switch to library View when in another view (eg Skins or Now Playing).

To switch to library view Ctrl key Press the key, then press the number. One key. or tap old Press once to display the menu, then see > library.

Choose Ride Tabs in the upper-right corner of the window.

make sure audio CD Burning mode (not data disc). If not, switch to an audio CD.

Choose tool select the menu option.

If the Tools menu is not visible, right-click on the toolbar and Show menu bar.

Choose Confirm Save your changes at the bottom of the Options window.

Add music to Windows Media Player if you haven’t already.

To add music from your WMP library to your burning list, drag and drop your selection to the burning list on the right side of the screen. This applies to both individual titles and entire albums. To select multiple tracks Ctrl key while the button is selected

If you have added an item to the burn list that you no longer want from a CD, right-click (or tap and hold) and select it. remove from list.

When you are ready to burn, insert a blank CD. If you have a rewritable disc that you want to erase Burning Options Select the Erase Disc option in the upper right corner.

Choose start burning Create seamless audio CDs.

Make sure there are no blanks on the generated CD.

Switch to Library view if you’re in any other view (such as Skin or Now Playing).

To switch to Library View, press and hold the Ctrl key and then hit the number 1 key. Or, tap the Alt key once to show the menu and then go to View > Library.

Select the Burn tab in the upper right side of the window.

Make sure Audio CD is the burn mode (not Data disc). If not, switch to Audio CD. 

Select the Tools menu and choose Options.

If you don’t see the Tools menu, right-click the toolbar and select Show Menu Bar.

Select the Burn tab on the Options dialog box.

From the Audio CDs area, enable the Burn CD without gaps option.

Select OK at the bottom of the Options window to save the changes.

If you haven’t already, add music to Windows Media Player.

Select the Music folder from the left pane.

To add music to the burn list from your WMP library, drag and drop your selection to the burn list on the right-hand side of the screen. This works for single tracks as well as complete albums. To choose multiple tracks, hold down the Ctrl key while selecting them.
