Chef Marcos Spaziani Announces He’s Leaving Below Deck Sailing Yacht

Chef Marcos Spaziani from Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 recently announced that he won’t be returning next season. The Below Deck franchise has had many talented chefs, but Marcos may be one of the best yet. The native Venezuelan has been a chef for 10 years and has worked everywhere from Miami to Los Angeles. While living in LA., he worked as a chef at the well-known Hollywood restaurant Taste. Soon afterward, he started his gourmet food truck business called ML Eats with fellow chef Louis Huh.

Marcos brought his amazing culinary skills to Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Since the first charter, he wowed the guests with his tasty creations and Instagram-worthy plating. The chef’s main focus was on making the guests happy. Even when he suffered a painful head injury, he worked through it in order to make dinner happen. The only complaint he got during Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 was on a horrible charter, which the chef calmly took in stride.

Fans will be sad to hear that Marcos will not be returning for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4. Marcos took to Twitter to tell fans, “I want to thank everyone for the big support and great comments. I never thought in my life I would bring so much inspiration to so many ppl and for that I’m very grateful and also blessed! But I can’t go back to the next season.” Many fans were disappointed at the news and praised Marcos not just for his culinary skills but also for being such a calm and collected chef in the galley.

Marcos didn’t give a reason for leaving Below Deck Sailing Yacht, but some speculate it was because he’s keeping busy with his other endeavors. Marcos recently opened his first brick and mortar restaurant in Los Angeles called Marlou with Chef Louis. The fusion restaurant serves mouth-watering creations inspired by Venezuelan and Korean food. Some fans also wonder if the stress of working on a yacht was too much for the chef. Marcos was the only chef on the boat with no help and even had to make a 10-course meal for eight guests all by himself.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans hope that Marcos’ hiatus will be a brief one and that he’ll return for future seasons. After watching the many temperamental chefs in the Below Deck franchise, viewers thought Marcos’ laid-back nature was a breath of fresh air. The chef was also a sounding board for the Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew. Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher and stewardess Ashley Marti often made their way into the galley to vent to him. After having one of the best chefs on Parsifal III, Captain Glenn Shephard is going to have a hard time replacing Marcos for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
