Cobra Kai season 5 release date, teaser trailer and everything we know so far

Ralph Macchio as Daniel Laruso and William Zavka as Johnny Lawrence pay tribute to Mary Mouser as Sam Laruso in Cobra Kai.

Cobra Kai Season 5 is underway, so get ready for more karate action! Season 4 has just ended, but fans are eager to see what’s next for Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and the karate students. Fortunately, season 5 of Cobra Kai has already been filmed, so you won’t have to wait long!

Cobra Kai is one of the best Netflix shows and one of the streamer’s most popular series. A sequel to the Karate Kid movie, it follows former rivals Johnny and Daniel, who have grown up about 30 years later. They clashed again when Johnny reopened his old Cobra Kai dojo to teach a new generation of students. In response, Daniel Miyagi-do was rebooted and her students bumped into each other on the mat and at school.

In Season 4, Johnny and Daniel put an end to their feud to team up with John Kreese and Terry Silver, who took over Cobra Kai. They made a deal. If Johnny and Daniel’s students win the tournament, Kreese and Silver will leave the valley forever.

But when Cobra Kai wins and Kreese goes to jail, Daniel makes a surprising decision about Miyagi-do’s future.

Here’s everything you need to know about Cobra Kai Season 5.

Cobra kai season 5 release date

Netflix has confirmed that season 5 of Cobra Kai will release on September 9, almost four months earlier than expected. Previously, Netflix released new episodes on New Year’s Eve and expected this trend to continue.

But we’re not too surprised that the show arrives earlier this year. Season 5 of Cobra Kai finished filming in December, and co-creator Jon Hurwitz confirmed by posting a photo. Twitter “Five. Fins. #ByeAtlanta #CobraKai’ also stars Josh Heald (who holds many credits for the show, including co-creator, co-executive producer and co-writer).

But whatever the reason for the pre-launch, we’re not complaining.

Jon Hurwitz and Josh Heald are reported to have finished filming season 5 of Cobra Kai.

Cobra Kai Season 5 Teaser Trailer

In the first teaser trailer for Cobra Kai season 5, we see Daniel actually mobilizing his once-enemy Chozen to fight the real big evils Cobra Kai and Silver. Meanwhile, Johnny travels to Mexico to find Miguel (who is looking for his father).

Cobra Kai season 5 casting speculation

Season 4's Cobra Kai cast

The cast of Cobra Kai season 5 has not been fully confirmed yet, but it looks like all the major cast members are returning after the first trailer has been released.

Top of the list, of course, is William Zabka as Johnny, Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, and Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver, the new Cobra-Kai boss. Daniel will team up with once-enemy Chozen, played again by Yuji Okumoto, who was ridiculed at the end of season 4.

The show will almost certainly return John Kreese as Amanda LaRusso (Daniel’s wife), despite being in jail with Courtney Henggeler. Vanessa Rubio’s Carmen Diaz (Miguel’s mother) also makes a brief appearance in the first trailer.

Cobra Kai also appears to be bringing most of the students from the three schools with a trailer confirming the next return.

  • Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz
  • Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso, daughter of Mary Mouser Daniel
  • Tanner Buchanan as Johnny’s son Robbie Keane
  • Peyton List Peyton List as Tori Nichols

Other key students will also return, including:

  • Jacob Bertrand Jacob Bertrand as Eli “Hawk” Moskowitz
  • Gianni Decenzo Gianni Decenzo as Demetri Alexopoulos
  • Dallas Dupree Young as Kenny Payne
  • Oona O’Brien as Devon Lee
  • Griffin Santo Pietro – Daniel’s son Anthony Laruso

The late Pat Morita also appears in the trailer in the form of a Karate Kid III flashback, suggesting that more footage of Daniel’s mentor could be archived.

But 10 episodes is too long, can we meet someone else?

Taking over the Cobra Kai dojo hints that Terry can recruit help. That could mean Sean Kanan could appear as Mike Barnes in Karate Kid III.

The series now draws on previous characters from three Karate Kid movies. Fans hope to see Hillary Swank again for her role as Julie Pierce in The Next Karate Kid.

Co-creator Jon Hurwitz was very careful about the subject in an interview with Fandom.

“All we can say about her is that we love Hillary Swank. We think she’s a phenomenal actress and we love her character in this franchise.” “She was taught by Miyagi-san and she is an important person in the world of karate kids. We can’t tell if she’ll be back, and if she does, how will she come back.

“We can talk about her and maybe we’ve met her, we may have worked with her, we may not have. We can’t tell you anything! Keep asking questions until it comes out or the series is over. will be, and we always welcome questions!”

Synopsis of Cobra Kai season 5

The Cobra Kai season 4 finale left us with a few unresolved threads. The first is that Daniel has decided not to respect the contract he and John Kreese made. Instead of shutting down Miyagido, he sends Chozen into the offensive. In Season 5, Daniel can use more aggressive tactics to defeat Cobra Kai.

Speaking of enemy dojo, Terry Silver led the arrest by accusing his former assistant Kreese of beating Stingray. Now he is ready to take full control of Cobra Kai and open up new locations throughout the valley. The atmosphere is Cobra Kai as an evil empire with Daniel and Johnny at the forefront of the rebel coalition.

But Terry could lose two of his best students. Robbie seems to be rethinking her “ruthless” philosophy after seeing her mentee Kenny bullying Anthony LaRusso. Trailer footage shows him accompany his father to fetch Miguel from Mexico, hinting that he’s back on his own, and begins to reconcile with Johnny.

Likewise, Tory appears to be struggling with the revelations that Terry only won the All Valley Tournament by bribing tournament referees. She may decide that such an unfair practice is uncomfortable.

And finally, there is Miguel. The former champion disappeared after giving up the competition due to muscle tension. He left a message to his mom and Johnny that he was on his way to Mexico to meet his dad, who was obviously the bad guy. Johnny vows to find him and bring him back.

Is Cobrakai season 5 the last season?

Netflix hasn’t officially ordered a season 6 of Cobra Kai, but I think it’s safe to assume it will.

And the show’s creators already have plans for future episodes. “We’re past season 5,” Josh Heald told Screenrant. “We’re not writing anything until the end of the series for season 5 right now.”
