DC Confirms Nightwing Is The Bat-Family’s Center, Not Batman
NIGHTWING #92- THE BATTLE FOR BLUDHAVEN’S HEARTBlüdhaven mayor Melinda Zucco is in trouble—pretending to work for Blockbuster while secretly trying to take him and his gang of criminals down, while also working alongside Dick Grayson to uplift the city. But as his half sister sharing the last name of the man who killed his parents, it’s…a lot to juggle, and enough for one to accidentally let slip a secret or two in the wrong company if she’s not careful… Meanwhile, Nightwing and Oracle cuddle up and decide to finally define their relationship.
Considering Nightwing’s bond with the current Robin Damian and generally strong relationships with everyone in the Bat-Family, it’s safe to say that he’s their true center (especially after Alfred’s death). Nightwing is the glue that keeps the family together during the frequent instances when Batman becomes extra dark and brooding. One would think that the Dark Knight himself should be the center of his own family, but that’s just not the case due to his own hang-ups and darkness that have caused him to drop the ball more than once.
While Nightwing freely admits that he’s impulsive and reckless, it’s always for the right reasons. While it is a mixture of being “brave and stupid” as he claims in this new preview, the decisions he makes are to save as many people as he can, carrying zero of the cynicism held by Batman. As such, this preview helps prove that Nightwing’s influence has spread to other vigilantes in the Bat-Family, taking their cues from him much more than Batman himself. The full Nightwing #92 releases on May 17th.
