Easter is the perfect time for this project. The project is even more interesting not only thanks to the chicks, but also because the feathers can be painted with egg dye.

We love to procure our feathers “in the wild” (or on farm). Nature always has the best craft materials. Once collected, they can be cleaned (be careful and use a little dust). plasticizer). Once it’s all dry (even with Kool Aid), there are so many different ways to color it and you’ll be amazed at how great it looks.

How to make a DIY chick planter

What you need:

  • Terracotta mini pot/planter (must be a terracotta planter as color doesn’t work the same on different materials)
  • Favorite succulents with soil
  • Acrylic paints (or other craft paints) – orange, yellow or other colors, limit the sky.
  • Hot glue (strong craft glue works well too, but a glue gun is best)
  • scissors
  • black permanent marker
  • brush
  • Feathers (preferably natural or cruelty-free) – Wings can also be cut from kraft foam or similar. pre-colored or painted
  • orange cardboard

step-by-step instructions

Wipe the terracotta pot with a dry cloth to remove any dirt (especially if it has been stored for a long time). Apply the first layer of yellow paint and let it dry slightly.

Depending on the paint brand (pigment, density, etc.) you may need to apply a few more coats (average 2-3 coats).

Allow the paint to dry completely before proceeding. We think the orange, yellow and blue colors are very cute for DIY chick growers.

Glue the colored feathers to the glass. 2 on the side (outside) and 1 on the top (stick on the inside).

Repeat with the other glasses.

Draw the eyes with a pencil and when you like the shape, draw them with a permanent marker over the pencil.

Cut the beak out of paper or craft and attach it under (between) the eyes.

Fill the pot with soil and plant succulents there.
