Doctor Strange 2 runtime revealed – and it’s the shortest MCU movie in three years

Doctor Strange of the Mad Multiverse is almost here. According to a new report, the movie’s run times appear to have been confirmed. The sequel that promises to rock the Marvel Cinematic Universe could be the shortest Phase 4 movie yet.

Fandango confirmed the movie’s running time to be just 2 hours and 6 minutes (126 minutes). This will be the shortest MCU outing since Captain Marvel in 2019, lasting two hours and four minutes.

The latest Phase 4 release lasted around 2 hours 30 minutes, Eternals at 2 hours 36 minutes and Spider-Man: No Way Home at 2 hours 28 minutes. Morbius’ Marvel launch was only 1 hour and 44 minutes, but the story takes place outside the main MCU.

It won’t be long before we know exactly what’s going on in the new Doctor Strange movie, which will be out in the first week of May. The sequel, directed by Sam Raimi, returns Benedict Cumberbatch to the title role.

He joins Sorcerer Supreme Wong, played once again by Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff and Benedict Wong, who began to wreak havoc in Westview during WandaVision’s event. Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sochitl Gomez and Michael Stuhlbarg have also been confirmed as co-stars. If the Super Bowl trailer is true, expect some amazing cameos too.

The stars, as expected, hold their cards close to their chests, but Cumberbatch recently threw out a delicious joke at Total Film. In the latest issue, he said: “It’s going to be an absolutely amazing and exhilarating ride. Really the title refers to the experience I see and make sure of it. There was a lot of madness, multiverse, and Doctor Strange.”

Doctor Strange, appearing in the Multiverse of Madness, will be released on May 6th. Check out our full guide to the upcoming Marvel Phase 4 release and how to watch the Marvel movies in order.
