If you’ve come this far, you know that Doctor Strange features Hayley Atwell in the Multiverse of Madness.
But she doesn’t play the Peggy Carter we know and love in the Captain America movies. This is a completely different version of the character from the Multiverse. But we already met on What If.
Who will Hayley Atwell play in Doctor Strange 2?
Atwell played Captain Carter in Doctor Strange 2. She was introduced in the first episode of What If, where Peggy Carter went into Super Soldier transformation instead of Steve Rogers. After that, she became Captain Carter, wielding a shield adorned with a Union Jack, and fought in World War II.
However, Captain Carter is sucked through a portal while fighting a giant tentacle creature and appears 70 years into the future. Working with Party Thor, Star-Lord T’Challa, Black Panther Killmonger, Doctor Strange Supreme, Gamora, and Black Widow to defeat the almighty Ultron, she becomes a member of the Guardians of the Multiverse.
In Doctor Strange 2, she is a member of the Illuminati and fights Wanda Maximoff as she arrives for America Chavez.
Will Hayley Atwell play Captain Carter again?

So far, Atwell has played Captain Carter whenever a character appears in the MCU, giving her a voice throughout What If and bringing her to live-action films.
But in Doctor Strange 2, Peggy is brutally killed with her shield by the Scarlet Witch, who slaughters the rest of the Illuminati while she is there. Whether that precludes the return of Captain Carter remains to be seen – after all, anything is possible in the multiverse…
Is Captain Carter in Doctor Strange 2 The Same As What If?
Not sure which version of Captain Carter this is. There is no mention of Carter’s role as guardian of the multiverse or her story in What If. Also, the Illuminati have Ultron guards, and since they’ve fought other versions of evil robots before, Peggy was probably more wary of them.
Then comes the fact that Captain Carter has been confirmed to appear in every season of the animated show. It can be difficult given her horrific end at the hands of Scarlet Witch. So this is likely another version of Captain Carter and she will surely appear in future shows and movies.

Atwell plays none other than Captain Carter in Doctor Strange 2. She was introduced in the very first episode of What If, which saw Peggy Carter undergo the Super Soldier transformation instead of Steve Rogers. But, Captain Carter ends up sucked through a portal while fighting a giant tentacle creature, and emerges 70 years in the future. She then becomes a member of the Guardians of the Multiverse after teaming up with Party Thor, Star-Lord T’Challa, Black Panther Killmonger, Doctor Strange Supreme, Gamora, and Black Widow to beat an all-powerful Ultron.
In Doctor Strange 2, she’s a member of the Illuminati, and fights Wanda Maximoff when she arrives for America Chavez.
