Elden Ring patch nerfs its murderous dogs

FromSoftware has released a new patch for a very successful and challenging open world role-playing game. Elden Ring on tuesday. You can check out the long list of patch notes on the Bandai Namco website, but the 1.04 update includes some important changes. Overwhelming Bleed Dogs have been nerfed and the wall of illusion is gone.

YouTuber Zullie Witch tested the patch on Tuesday and found that the overwhelmed Rotten Stray Dogs aren’t as strong as their previous incarnations. Before the update, Bleed Dogs had a bug where the game could inflict massive health damage to characters due to a bug related to the attack animation. The bug was what made Rotten Stray Dogs more powerful than some bosses. It is now fixed. And we don’t mean “fixed” like “take him to the vet”. Zullie Witch demonstrated the changes in this video.

Zullie also recorded another significant change. The mysterious illusion wall is no longer disappearing. In March, players found a fake wall that collapsed after 50 crashes in Volcano Manor. At first, players weren’t sure if the developers were using it to hide a secret or if it was just a bug. After the patch, the wall will collapse and no other rooms will come out. So, a fantastic but destructible wall seems to be just a clever way for developers to hide unwanted rooms, not a gateway to a bigger mystery.

YouTuber Zullie the Witch test drove the patch on Tuesday, and found that the over-powered Rotten Stray dogs weren’t as tough as prior incarnations. Before the update, the bleed dogs had a glitch whereby the game could deal massive health damage to your character thanks to an error tied to their attack animation — an error making Rotten Stray dogs stronger than some bosses, even. Now, they’re fixed. And we don’t mean “fixed,” as in, “taking them to the vet” fixed, either. Zullie the Witch demonstrated the changes in this video.

Zullie also documented another key change: The mysterious illusory wall no longer disappears. In March, players discovered a fake wall in Volcano Manor that dissolved when you hit it 50 times. At first, players weren’t sure if developers were using it to hide secrets, or if it was just a bug. After the patch, the wall doesn’t fall down to expose another room. So it appears that the illusory, but destructible, walls were just a clever way for the developers to hide an unwanted room and not a doorway to bigger secrets.
