The Elden Ring Ranni quest leads to the secret ending of the Age of Stars game, but as ‘The Secret’ suggests, it’s not easy to trigger if you don’t know what to do. This is not surprising considering that the witch Ranni is one of the most mysterious characters of the Elden Ring. But her secrets she unlocks and her Elden Ring ending is worth it. It’s okay to follow her to strange locations around her map to find her definitive solution at the last minute of her game. The process of chasing them and triggering the ending is ambiguous at the best time, so comprehensive walkthrough is required to guide you through the Elden Ring Ranni quest below.

A potential central character, Ranni Witch, is a character you’re likely to encounter early in the Elden Ring, especially when heading to the Church of Elleh after getting a mysterious four-armed Torrent clad in white and wide armor in Limgrave. witch hat. She initially uses the pseudonym Renna, which she is not very creative with, but after a while she discards that name and goes back to Ranni. But you don’t have to worry about meeting her on her Limgrave. This is an optional encounter and if you miss the opportunity, you can meet properly later to start the quest.

Below we’ve listed the full sequence of events in Ranis Quest, where to go, and what to do once you arrive. Please note that this cannot be done at the start of the game by checking the specific location on the map. You have to open many parts of the map and defeat many bosses before helping Ranni achieve his goal. Also, make sure you are checking the correct map each time, as we have divided the map into two parts: above ground and underground (mainly Nokstella area and Rotten Lake). Just below the map below is the full list of goals. Achieve it, warrior!

  1. The first thing to do is to go to the Three Sisters Tower, west of Caria Manor. You must get through Caria and defeat the Royal Knight Loretta boss fight to get there first. When you get there, go to Ranni’s Rise, the three middle towers, and take the elevator to meet in person at the top. Exhaust her conversations until she disappears and follow her path to introduce you to her generals.
  2. Find the Blade by the Siopra River, where he will be waiting to talk to you. This quest is actually interwoven with Elden Ring Blaidd’s Half-Wolf location and quest line and we have his specific location in Siofra. Then follow Blaidd’s quest to the point where the stars fall. After that, things turn again.
  3. Travel through the new crater south of Mistwood to the eternal city of Nokron. Kill him along the path of the boss fight with Mimic Tear and take the bridge until it leads to the left into the grass area. Hug the cliff on the far left until you find the site of mercy called Night’s Sacred Ground, then jump over the roof and go to the church above ground until you find the treasure called Fingerslayer Blade.
  4. Take it to Ranni at Ranni’s Rise. She offers the Carian Inverted Statue, a key element that serves as the key to a very specific lock.
  5. Go to the Carian Study Hall in West Liurnia and use the statue on the altar in front of the entrance to turn the entire tower over. Then go down to the tower (sorry) and use the bridge to reach the sacred tower to the east. At the top of the Tower of God is an item called the Curse of Death. Pick it up from the corpse it sits on.
  6. Now head back to the Three Sisters, this time to Renni’s Rise, the northernmost tower. Trigger the teleport passage at the top to send it to the Ainsel River Main and grab the miniature Ranni. Then try speaking to him several times in the next place of grace. Eventually he will speak again. spooky!
  7. After taking everything out of the doll, follow the river to Nokstella Eternal City and descend to the Nokstella Waterfall Basin Site of Grace (requires an elevator ride from the water level). Go through the tunnel next to it and you’ll find an NPC invasion called Baleful Shadow that looks like Blaidd. kill her her After that, miniature Ranni will give you the keys to the abandoned palace.
  8. Go to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library where you fought Rennala and use the key to open the locked chest next to her. You will receive a Darkmoon Ring. For more information about the chest and the ring itself, visit the Elden Ring Locked Rennala chest page!
  9. head return Go to the point where you killed Ominous Shadow and continue southwest past this area until you reach the Lake of Decay. Use the stepping stones to cross the lake to the southwest corner and to the Grand Cloister building. There is a coffin at the edge of the waterfall. When prompted, board. Go to the next location.
  10. This will lead you into a new boss fight called Astel, the Naturalborn of the Void. A tough opponent, Astel uses gravity attacks to enhance her natural punches and punches, adding a delayed explosion that is often triggered right after the initial strike. Try to stay behind or under him if possible, use summons to get his attention, and dodge much more than you protect. His attacks will most likely break through your defenses.
  11. When Astel dies, head to the elevator that takes you through the arena to the surface of the high plateau of Liurnia. You’ll be attacked by dragons here, but you don’t have to fight. Go to the Cathedral of Manus Celes in the northeast corner and go down the canyon to find Ranni’s body. Interact with it to give her her ring and complete her quest.

When Ranni’s questline ends, you can follow this storyline to complete the last part of Blaidd’s questline.

How to get Rani’s Secret ending

Completing Ranni’s quest line Select Triggers the secret ending, but not automatically. When you defeat the final boss of the Elden Ring, detailed in the Elden Ring Main Boss Guide, a summon marker will appear on the floor that can be used to summon Rani. Ranni’s questline has tons of rewards. Some are direct rewards for completing quests, others are essential enemy rewards that must be defeated in full. Here is the full list:

  • Darkmoon Greatsword: A unique greatsword that scales well, deals cold damage, and has the ability to temporarily buff with the Moonlight Greatsword Ashes of War. It also requires Int 38 to be used and is given at the end of the quest after Ranni’s body was found in the Cathedral of Manus Celes. It is also a recurring item in the Soulsborne series. So the same goes for Easter eggs!
  • Remembering Nature Born: Remember Astell will drop her after killing her. Can be used with Finger Reader Enia in the Round Table to exchange for the unique Ash of War, Waves of Darkness which adds magical affinity to larger melee weapons, and the special AOE Strike grant. They can also be replaced with intelligence-extended flails called Bastard’s Stars.
  • A silver teardrop mask and two caterpillar tears: Killing Mimic Tear at the Nokron entrance will give you a unique (albeit ugly) helmet that increases your Arcane stats and 2 Larval Tears.   • Loretta’s Greatbow and Ashes of War: Loretta’s Strike: To reach Ranni’s Rise, you’ll have to go through the Royal Knight Loretta, who will drop the Greatbow (actually a magic that fires special arrows, not gear) and Loretta’s Slash Ash of War. Powerful upward attack.

Ranni the Witch is a potentially pivotal character you’ll probably meet early on in Elden Ring, specifically in Limgrave if you head to the Church of Elleh after getting Torrent, an enigmatic four-armed figure in white clothes and a broad witch’s hat. At first she goes under the not-so-creative pseudonym of Renna, but it’s not long at all before she drops that name and reverts to Ranni. You don’t need to worry about meeting her in Limgrave, however – this is an optional encounter and if you miss the chance, you can encounter her later on to start the quest properly.

The first thing you need to do is head to the Three Sisters towers West of Caria Manor. You’ll have to make it through Caria and beat the boss fight Royal Knight Loretta to get there first. Once you’re there, head to the middle tower of the three, Ranni’s Rise, and go up the lift to meet her personally at the very top. Exhaust her dialogue until she disappears, introducing you to her generals along the way.
Find Blaidd on Siofra River, where he’ll be waiting to talk to you. Head to the Carian Study Hall in West Liurnia and use the Statue on the altar in front of the entrance to flip the entire tower. Then head up the tower to the bottom (we’re so sorry about that), and use the bridge to reach the Divine Tower across to the East. At the top of the Divine Tower is an item called the Cursemark of Death. Grab it off the corpse it’s sitting on.
Now head back to the Three Sisters, this time heading to the Northernmost tower, Renni’s Rise. Trigger the teleporting Waygate at the top to be sent to Ainsel River Main, and pack up the Miniature Ranni. Then try talking to it multiple times at the nearest Site of Grace – eventually it’ll talk back. Spooky! 
After getting all you can from the doll, follow the River to Nokstella, Eternal City, and head downwards to the Nokstella Waterfall Basin Site of Grace (you’ll have to take a lift downwards from the water level). Just through the tunnel next to that will be an NPC Invasion called the Baleful Shadow that looks like Blaidd – kill it. After this, the Miniature Ranni will give you the Discarded Palace Key.

Head back to where you killed the Baleful Shadow and keep heading Southwest past that area to reach the Lake of Rot. Use the stepping stones to make it over the lake to the Southwest corner and the Grand Cloister building. You’ll find in here a coffin on the edge of a waterfall. Get in when prompted – it’ll carry you down to the next location.
This’ll take you to a new boss fight called Astel, Naturalborn of the Void.
