Ewan McGregor returns in these exclusive images from Obi-Wan Kenobi

The Star Wars universe continues to expand on the small screen as the latest spin-off series from Disney Plus launches soon. Obi-Wan Kenobi starred Ewan McGregor as the legendary Jedi. The last scene (at least in live action) was the legendary Jedi dropping baby Luke Skywalker on Tatooine at the end of Revenge of the Sith.

McGregor took over the role of Alec Guinness and polished the character (and his beard) over the course of the prequel trilogy. But 17 years after he last wore the gown, McGregor is back and he’s not the only familiar face to appear in the new series. First of all, the nemesis Hayden Christensen from his former Padawan returns as Darth Vader…

On the cover story of the new issue of Total Film magazine, McGregor, Christensen, co-star Moses Ingram and director Deborah Chow recount the Jedi wilderness life and his new adventures. Below you can see three exclusive new images from this issue.

The final image features Rupert Friend as Grand Inquisitor, a high-ranking empire villain that fans of Star Wars Rebels will be familiar with. He is just a potential threat to Obi-Wan, along with Reva from Moses Ingram, another Inquisitor. Of course Dad…

Meanwhile, Obi-Wan will be keeping an eye on the young Luke Skywalker on the desert planet Tatooine, as well as the neon-soaked planet Daiyu in the photo above. The series’ diverse supporting cast includes Kumail Nanjiani, Sung Kang, Maya Erskine, and Benny Safdie, as well as Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Priesse, who reprized their roles in the full-length trilogy as Owen and Beru Lars.

The first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi air on Disney Plus on Friday, May 27, with subsequent episodes airing on Wednesday. For more on McGregor and co, check out the new issue of Total Film coming out Thursday, April 28th.
