Fans Call For D&D LEGO Sets (& It Makes a Lot of Sense)

Fans of both Dungeons and Dragons and LEGO are calling for the two intellectual properties to join forces to make official sets, prompted by one Redditor. The brick-based toy company has made many sets for various franchises throughout the years, with recent new additions including a Horizon Forbidden West LEGO set, and rumors of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order releases coming soon.
While there is a lot that is left up to the imagination for most playing a table-top RPG, Dungeons and Dragons offers a variety of sets that can sometimes include elements of visual representation for a party’s adventure. If desired, game masters and players alike can get their hands on surprisingly detailed miniature figures that represent their characters, as well as maps and model structures that can be used to actually show a given environment. There are a variety of brands that supply these resources, however, D&D fans are now calling for one of the largest and most recognizable toy brands to join in.

Taking to Reddit to pitch their idea to other Dungeons and Dragons enthusiasts, user computer-controller posed the idea of convincing LEGO to create D&D sets, with the post receiving thousands of upvotes from players. Besides figure customization, computer-controller argues that LEGO’s grid medium is already optimally designed for certain in-game mechanics. While mostly known in recent years for creating LEGO sets for intellectual properties like Star Wars, the brand also has basic sets not based on recognizable franchises, with some featuring knights, horses, castles, and other medieval fantasy elements that are often associated with Dungeons and Dragons.

Even though Dungeons and Dragons’ parent company Hasbro is something of a rival to LEGO, both being toy competitors, computer-controller and some of the commenters pointed out that collaborations between the two have happened in the past. It’s very possible that, prompted by the community, such a game set could be pitched to LEGO Ideas, where fans can submit their plans for official approval from LEGO. LEGO Ideas has seen a number of exciting gaming-related pitches in the past, including a replica PS5 built from bricks.
While there are many logistical reasons that make sense for this collaboration, it is unlikely it will happen anytime soon.
