Should I SBC for “Player X”?
It all depends on how much you like the player and the value he brings to your team.
The best algorithm I’ve found for this was taken from Redditor Imaduckquackk ahead of the FIFA 19 Futmas event in December, and here’s it:
1. Do you want this card?
2. Increases cost by 50%.
3. Name your 5 favorite players within this new budget.
4. If you cannot answer question 3, complete the SBC.
5. If you answered question 3, do not waste your coins.
Item 2 is especially important. You can find out how much a specific player SBC will pay you at Excellence Futbin. The reason for doubling this amount is that the card’s value naturally decreases over the course of a FIFA season, especially if players score special TOTW or (later) TOTS cards.
How do I get the best cards and packs?
As explained in the aforementioned FIFA 19 Ultimate Team Coins Guide, you should not purchase Gold Packs. This also applies to promotional events such as: As of this writing, there is a limited-time Jumbo Rare Player Pack available for 100,000 coins. Do not approach him under any circumstances. The chances of getting close to 100,000 coins back from the 24 players who got you are very slim.
Instead, make the most of the market overflowing with gold cards during the FUT birthday event. Create your own list of transfer targets and prices you are willing to pay (or can afford) for each player. Keep an eye on the market and catch if that player is in the price range you choose. This is how I built strong squads for every major league in the game, like the Serie A teams I drew above.
Can I expect another FUT birthday present?
Yes. The first time you log in to the game after FUT Birthday begins, you will receive a participation reward based on the number of times you have played FIFA 19 so far. They range from custom kits (for 1-8 days of play) to ultimate packs (for 163+ days of play). As you can see from the photo above, I’m kind of an addict…
