First look – TMNT creator Kevin Eastman’s Elektra tale

Elektra: Black, White & Blood #4

Okay, so it’s not a teenage mutant ninja turtles crossover, but it’s still a Kevin Eatman drawing of a Marvel adventure.

TMNT co-creators co-write and draw the story with Freddie E. Williams in Elektra: Black, White & Blood #4 (issued May 18), the final part of the anthology series.

In his story, Eastman will make “Hell’s Kitchen” his playground, referring to the neighborhoods of Daredevil and Elektra (now joint Daredevils) in New York City.

“And the results are as radical as expected! Kawabunga! Let’s eat pizza!” Marvel’s description, which at first seemed suggestive of a crossover, turned out to be cheeky.

Here are a few pages of the story:

Fans of teenage mutant Ninja Turtles know that the original 80s comic book was created as a joke parody of a contemporary superhero comic like Marvel’s Daredevil.

Eastman and co-creator Peter Laird originally thought that pizza-loving turtles existed in the same universes as Elektra and Daredevil. you’re right. Marvel Universe. In the critical 1984 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1, the “mud” that mutated the turtle into a TMNT ego was revealed to be the same chemical that poked young Matt Murdock in the eye, blinding him and endowing him with superhuman abilities.

Splinter, the name of Turtles’ mentor, is also associated with Daredevil. That means nodding to Daredevil’s mentor stick. And while Daredevil fought a ninja commonly known as the Hand, the Turtles’ ninja opponent was Foot.

And of course, Elektra’s signature weapon, between her twins, is also TMNT Raphael’s signature weapon.

Eastman’s Elektra short will be Eastman’s second Marvel story, following his Marvel Comics interior debut in February 2021 in Anthology King-Size Conan #1.
