GTA 6 news, official Rockstar updates, and all the rumors

GTA 6 is officially in progress and is currently in development. Earlier this year, developer Rockstar Games confirmed this. “Active development is underway for the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series.” However, it was more of a small note in a recent blog post rather than a full disclosure.

There have been so many rumors and rumors about GTA 6 over the years that it feels surreal to have something officially confirmed. There are leaks hinting at elements of the game’s story, settings, features, and other details, so it’ll be exciting to see what Rockstar reveals next.

The latest information fans have been given comes from a Rockstar job listing that hints at GTA 6’s surprising details and “extensive destruction”. This could be a significant improvement over what is currently experienced in GTA 5 and GTA Online. Also interestingly, GTA fans think this San Andreas Easter egg is the first look of GTA 6, so some sort of official reveal could come later this year.

But that’s not all. Read all the GTA 6 rumors floating around so far.

When is the GTA 6 release date?

In a nutshell, if Rockstar had announced GTA 6 the day after Red Dead Redemption 2 was released (October 26, 2018 – indicated in the diary), they would have missed the GTA announcement for consoles due to historical delays and are awaiting release. 22 months – August 2020. Of course, Rockstar didn’t do that. In fact, they didn’t do anything until February 2022, when Rockstar confirmed they were working on the game. This makes it difficult to predict the launch period. But new leaks suggest it won’t arrive before the end of 2024.

We've got a rough date, but this table is for GTA games.

There have been some rumors about a potential GTA 6 filming location, including a return to Vice City or a move across the United States.

According to the latest rumors arriving in June 2021, the GTA 6 setting is a modern recreation of Vice City. This rumor was later confirmed by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg.

In March 2021, well-established informant Tom Henderson said that GTA 6 will be set in a modern day setting. At the request of someone on Twitter, Henderson retweeted her question Simply put, “It’s not set in the 1980s, it’s modern.”

This was clearly confirmed by the photos of the house that appeared in the remastered version of GTA San Andreas. A photo of this house is a new addition to the game and has sparked speculation about GTA 6. However, someone was able to confirm that it was actually from GTA 6, which ignited the idea of being set in the present-day Vice City.

However, a huge GTA 6 leak surfaced in 2020. reddit. User JackOLantern1982 shared a total of 23 details about Rockstar’s upcoming game. Not only did they confirm that it was in development, but they said it was code-named Project Americas. This is because the game will take place in several countries: the fictional city of Brazil based in Rio de Janeiro and Vice City in the United States. The report says the related narrative will be heavily influenced by Netflix’s Narcos, a phenomenal series about the origins of the cocaine trade.

The leak hinted that he would build his own drug empire, similar to Vice City Stories, but similar to GTA Online but with bigger mechanics. The vehicle works like a horse in Red Dead Redemption 2, so you can put your gear in the trunk without having to load it on top of your character. According to the leak, the game takes place in the 1970s and 80s, with buildings changing or degraded over time, with weather being another major focus.

Yet another potential leak for Fireden suggests that the game’s start is in GTA 6’s modern Liberty City setting, reminiscent of the TV show Wire. This also suggests that it is a consistent theme for all leaks based on the drug ring.

A few years ago, reports of GTA 6’s London setting leaked through Rockstar Games, potentially putting the next game on the doorstep of the studio. Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser told Polygon in September 2013:

“Right now, it feels like the DNA of GTA is modern, American, and English speaking, because that’s what it was… But it’s not necessarily limited to that. That’s what we’ve been doing so far.”

This has led many to speculate that GTA could be inspired by the outside world or return to the UK. But Houser also told The Guardian that GTA won’t be returning to London later that month.

“I think GTA London was cool at the time, but my gut feeling was that the game was more restrictive back then,” Houser said. “These days, I want to play in England, London, etc., but I don’t know if it will be a GTA game. I think we have a lot of great stories to tell about England. Great gameplay mechanics – I don’t think it has to be GTA.”

In an interview with TechRadar in March 2016, a source reported that Rockstar visited the Japanese capital a few years ago on a reference tour for a game called GTA: Tokyo. Obviously the idea for the game has finally hatched, but the studio wanted to take a lot of pictures before meeting the locals and get a good feel for the city before embarking on this special gaming tour.

Sources said Rockstar was “serious” about the Japanese-backed game, until in 2003, it even trademarked the names GTA: Toyko, GTA: Bogota and, mysteriously, GTA: Sin City. This was close to the days of GTA 3 and Vice City, but the road system was considered problematic and was only one of the reasons the idea was eventually abandoned.

GTA 6 rumors are pretty widespread right now, so let’s start with some historical insights. So far, GTA games have settled in:

  • Liberty City – GTA 3, GTA 4, Lost and Damned, The Ballad of Gay Tony
  • Vice City – GTA Vice City
  • San Andreas / Los Santos – GTA: San Andreas, GTA 5

If history repeats itself, Vice City or Liberty City seems most likely to return… but the game is likely to explore new locations. It seems more likely given the expectations of GTA Online. In other words, the world doesn’t get smaller. . Talking to Rockstar’s Leslie Benzies about the 2013 YouTube GTA show GTAvoclock, he explained that the goal of GTA Online is “to grow until the world grows up.” world. We will keep adding new things, new places.”

What is the story of GTA 6?

GTA 5

As for the story of GTA 6, even in this department, there are many rumors, from multiple protagonists to one male hero.

A 2020 Reddit leak hinted at a single male protagonist set in the 1970s/80s and an aspiring drug lord named “Ricardo”. Another key character named “Kacey” is part of the narrative. According to this leak, you start as a cocaine smuggler and run from Vice City to the new great South American region, forge a relationship with a major drug lord and climb to the top through a story that spans multiple cities. It features a young Martin Madrazo and his father, who was a major drug lord at the time. Several missions for the Madrazo family involved in robbing other gangs. The story is also known to deal with issues such as the HIV and immigration crisis of the 1970s/80s.

However, early Fireden leaks revealed that there will be four main characters. Two cops and two gang members. According to this leak, the crime side has some sort of sandbox crime empire (think Fallout 4 meets the Sims) and the police side is a bit more of a traditional action game. A twist on LA noir.

According to the latest June 2021 leak, a modern interpretation of Vice City will feature multiple playable protagonists, including a “tech-savvy woman,” and the game’s map will grow and change over time (La Porte). Night). Schreier later confirmed almost all of these claims on Twitter (via Resetera).

Interestingly, Rockstar itself did not rule out using multiple protagonists for future endeavors, imitating the GTA 5 trio. Following the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 with only one playable character, Arthur Morgan, Rockstar told jeuxactu.com: Share his adventures.”

What did Rockstar say about GTA 6 in the records?

Former Rockstar North president teased the next series of entries in a four-part interview with Develop magazine, which started an online rumor mill in 2013.

“I don’t know what GTA 6 is, but I have some ideas,” Benzies said in an interview. “We have about 45 years of ideas that we want to implement. We choose the right one. The idea comes first. The first question is where to put it. Then define the mission. In LA, you do things differently than you do in New York or Miami. The map and story materialize together, and the story is the basic flow of how it works, so missions can be layered.

Of course, Benzies hasn’t revealed much about what GTA 6 will look like, and has put Rockstar North in a rather harsh situation. However, Rockstar is unlikely to break the tried and tested development process of the GTA series, where they build the world’s first buildings and stack characters and structures on top of each other. GTA 5 was created by over 1000 developers from studios around the world, so changing the template would be a drastic step.

Is there a PC version of GTA 6?

GTA 6 - Screenshots of GTA 5

At this point, GTA 6 will be the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions, especially the GTA 5 next-gen post for consoles and PC. But whether the PC port of GTA 6 will launch concurrently with the console version is not so straightforward.

Both GTA 5 and GTA 4 eventually made it to PC, so hopefully there will also be a GTA 6 PC port. It might not be a concurrent release, but the extra honing and development time has paid off so far, so hopefully PC fans will be willing to wait a bit again.
