Hogwarts Legacy PS5 DualSense Will Show Off Your House Colors

Gamers who play Hogwarts Legacy on PlayStation 5 will find that the DualSense controller reflects their chosen house. The upcoming open-world role-playing game will let fans step into the Wizard World to attend classes, explore magical locations and battle the forces of darkness. Players choose their houses in Hogwarts Legacy, and this choice will have a big impact on the game’s aesthetic and tone.

Hogwarts Legacy will apparate players into the Wizarding World by building digital versions of Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and other iconic areas. Players will be able to build their knowledge of spells, potions and magical items by attending classes, and these skills will then enhance combat. A cast of supporting characters will also follow players through their magical school year, allowing Hogwarts Legacy to effectively deliver the dream Harry Potter experience. Choosing between the four Hogwarts Houses will effect various parts of the game, like the player’s wardrobe and allies, with the various different common rooms in Hogwarts Legacy also reflecting the personality and color scheme of their associated house.

A new PlayStation Blog post reveals that Hogwarts Legacy will make clever use of the DualSense controller’s colorful features. To immerse players in the Wizarding World, the controller’s dynamic light bar will proudly display the colors of the protagonist’s chosen Hogwarts House. The DualSense will pulse red and gold for Gryffindor, green and silver for Slytherin, blue and gold for Ravenclaw and yellow and black for Hufflepuff. However, the light bar will also flash other colors when players cast spells or take damage. Along with tactile features like haptic feedback and reactive triggers, these different color bar states will make players feel like real Hogwarts students.

Just like Hogwarts Legacy, certain games like Horizon Forbidden West use DualSense features to elevate the player’s immersion. Guerrilla Games’ post-apocalyptic sci-fi title sees players hunt animalistic machines across a vast open world, with protagonist Aloy favoring a bow and arrow in battle. The PlayStation-exclusive title uses the DualSense’s various features, particularly reactive triggers and haptic feedback, to immerse players in Aloy’s world. A gyroscopic aiming option actually lets players aim their bow by moving the DualSense itself, which makes aiming easier and much cooler.

The main draw of Hogwarts Legacy is the opportunity to join a Hogwarts House, attend magic classes and explore a world of wonder. The open-world project seems to deliver each of these experiences in abundance, and small details like the DualSense light bar help to fully immerse gamers in the magical school. The controller will serve as a constant reminder of the player’s house, which should play an essential role in their journey through Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy will release in 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
