How Long Will Alexa Bliss Be Stuck In Her First WWE Gimmick?

It’s not hyperbole to state that Bliss might not have made it out of developmental without a well-executed heel turn on the faltering WWE NXT gold and black. She joined the dastardly tag team of Blake and Murphy, taking on a level of aggression that made her one of the top female villains on the brand at the time. That character shift catapulted her to the main roster, where she’s not considered a member of the four horsewomen of WWE but probably should be. She’s a two-time SmackDown women’s champion, three-time Raw women’s champion, and a two-time women’s tag-team champion to boot. She didn’t acquire all that gold by playing by the rules, though.

Bliss is at her most compelling when skirting the line between heel and face, working as a relatable tweener who does what she has to do to get ahead in a division loaded with talents like Flair, Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair. Her returning to her NXT roots, as far as her gimmick goes, feels pretty on the nose, and it seems like only a matter of time before we see some sort of reincarnation of the act she was putting on prior to taking time away from television. Even if she doesn’t end up veering in that darker direction, this all just seems like a ploy from Little Miss Bliss. She could, and should, end up in the Raw women’s title scene by the time 2022’s Money In The Bank rolls around in July.
