Charge your VR controller and stay ready to play.

what you need to know

  • The Oculus Quest and Quest 2 use one AA battery per controller.
  • To avoid downtime, buy two pairs of rechargeable AA batteries and leave one in the charger.
  • The Oculus Charging Station allows you to keep your controller charged without removing the battery.

This article describes how to charge your Oculus Quest and Quest 2 controllers, including using the optional charging dock.

How to Charge Your Oculus Quest and Quest 2 Controllers

The controller that comes with the Oculus Quest and Quest 2 doesn’t appear to have a removable battery compartment, but it does. If you look closely, you’ll find a small ejection symbol molded into the plastic of each grip, roughly opposite the release button location. That’s the battery-chamber cover and one AA battery is hidden inside. The batteries supplied with this controller are alkaline batteries and cannot be recharged.

To charge your Oculus Quest and Quest 2 controllers, you must replace the included alkaline batteries with rechargeable batteries. You then need to charge these batteries with a compatible battery charger when power is low. For simplicity, we recommend purchasing 4 batteries instead of 2 and leaving 2 of them in the charger so you have them ready at all times.

To charge your Oculus Quest controller:
