How to Draw a Caterpillar – Step by Step Guide for Kids and Beginners

This tutorial will teach you how to draw a cute cartoon caterpillar, a perfect project for kids and beginners.

Learn Caterpillar (cute cartoon style) tutorial and printable
What you need:
- Printable Orientation Drawings (at the end of the guide) – Perfect for classroom use and completely optional.
- paper
- black marker or pencil
- art supplies to color pictures
Follow the step-by-step drawing instructions.
Stage 1
Start drawing a circle. You don’t have to be a perfect circle, but do your best. This will be the head of the caterpillar you draw.
Step 2
Draw the antennae and facial features. You can keep it simple or add details.
Step 3
Start drawing the body – draw the “semicircle shape”. Or draw the letter C if the caterpillar is facing in a different direction than the cage.
Step 4
Continue drawing the semicircle of the body or the letter C. The more you draw as much as you want, the longer the caterpillar’s body will be.
Step 5
Draw the legs. You’ll need one pair for each “circle” without a head. One row of legs must be shorter than the other (this will be the back leg).
Step 6
A few details remain! Create adorable little feet by drawing an oval or dotting the ends of the legs. Also draw a small semicircle over the last circle of the body.

All you have to do is color the picture.
