We’re glad you like our drawing tutorials for kids! The temperature here is like summer, so I decided to make a series of tutorials on how to draw sea creatures.

Next up is the dolphin, the foolish mammal of the sea. And there are some very smart people. You may think this animal is difficult to draw, but you will soon find out that it is absolutely safe.

Once your kids or you have mastered these “standard poses” (at least judging by all the dolphin trailers you see here) they’ll draw these animals in all kinds of poses too. Or make your picture even better by adding sea waves and sun to the background.

Ready to try it out? All I know is that you will paint great pictures!

Or just follow this step-by-step drawing guide.

At the end of this drawing tutorial, you will find a printable template for directional drawings.

The first step is actually the most tricky. As you progress, everything becomes really easy. Let’s start by drawing the grandstand. Start at the top and make some sort of U shape, stretching the lines a little more at the bottom.

let's draw a dolphin

Now make a curve for the back. Start on the right and end on the left.

draw the waist line

Draw the pectoral fins.

Draw a ship.

I'm almost there

Now draw all the other fins, the other pectoral fins, and the dorsal fins. I also draw the tail.

Finally, draw the mouth (we drew a cute smile for the little dolphin) and eyes.

just a few more

I learned to draw a dolphin! See, it wasn’t difficult at all. You can now add ripples to the background to make it look like dolphins are jumping out of the water (some water droplets and splashes look good too). You can also draw the sun in the background.
