I decided to give you two different types of star pointing tutorials: the classic “single line” star and a simplified version of this method (perfect for kids and always produces perfect stars). Both tutorials show you how to draw a five-pointed star.

Stars are one of the basic shapes that come in handy when learning to draw, as they can be used to enhance many drawings. The Unicorn theme is a perfect example of this. Because it looks even more magical when surrounded by hordes of sparkling wonder stars.

How to Draw a Star – Five Pointed Stars

What you need:

  • One of the printable guides to drawing stars (optional)
  • pencil or marker (or both)
  • paper
  • Optional: Eraser

Version 1: The easiest way to draw a perfect star

I’m so excited to share this tutorial because it’s the easiest way to draw a perfect star! And in just 4 steps! Trace the final design with a pencil and marker, or leave all the lines as they are. Because that kind of star looks pretty cool anyway.

Stage 1

Start drawing the letter A without a horizontal line.

Step 2

Draw a horizontal line across the top third of the letter “A”.

Step 3

We’re almost there. It is only two steps away. All that’s left is to “connect the dots” and draw a line from one end of the horizontal line from the left to the lower right of the “letter A”.

Do the same on the other side.

Draw the finished star

congratulations. You have learned to draw stars! You can now trace with markers and erase lines or get creative to give the stars a smiley face.

Version 2: Draw a star at a time

You don’t need to pick up the pen from the paper to draw the stars using this method. This is the fastest way to draw a star once you get used to it.

You can draw it with a pencil and when you’re done, just follow the outer lines with a marker and you’ll have a perfect star with no inner lines.

Stage 1

Start by drawing a horizontal line from left to right.

Continue to draw angled lines.

Step 3

The next line should be inclined and go to the top of the star design.

We’re almost there! Now draw lines at an angle from top to bottom.

What do you need:

We’re really excited to share this tutorial with you because it’s the easiest way to draw a perfect star! And it’s only 4 steps! You can draw it with a pencil and trace your final design with a marker, or just leave it as it is, with all the lines – since those kind of stars look pretty cool anyway.
Step 1
Start by drawing a letter A, without the horizontal line.

2nd step
Draw a horizontal line, across the top third of the letter “A.”

Step 3
Almost there, just two strokes away. All that is left to do is to ‘connect the dots’, draw a line from one end of the horizontal line, say left to the lower right end of the ‘letter A’.

Step 4
Do the same with the other side.
