How to get an Apple Watch for free through your health insurance

Do you know how to get Apple Watch free from health insurance? If not, that’s fine. We’ll explain all the ways you can get your Apple Watch for free (or at a huge discount) depending on your insurance plan.

Perhaps the best Apple Watch deals come from your insurance provider. Of course, not everyone deserves these incentives. These incentives are often designed to encourage older people to engage in regular activities. Apple’s smartwatch can also monitor heart health by using fall detection to call emergency services and track signs of atrial fibrillation.

Understanding how to use your Apple Watch will make it more convenient for you to take care of yourself when you close your Apple Watch ring or whether you know how to use the Apple Watch Blood Oxygen app.

However, it’s not the cheapest health aid, as the flagship Apple Watch 7 starts at $399. This is one of the reasons why a handful of health insurance companies have developed programs that make it cheaper to wear the Apple Watch on a customer’s wrist. Some vendors allow users to “get” an Apple Watch through consistent workouts, while others offer special health discounts that can partially fund new smartwatches.

How to get a free Apple Watch from health insurance

Before you buy an Apple Watch without insurance, you need to find the Apple Watch that best suits your needs. Not all Apple Watch models on the market have the same features, so read our Apple Watch 7 vs. Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch SE vs. Apple Watch 3 guides.

Additionally, all of the health insurance companies listed below advertise the Apple Watch program (or offer certain alternatives in the case of BlueCross BlueShield). Just because health insurance isn’t included here doesn’t mean you can’t get an Apple Watch for free or cheaper. Check with your health insurance company about your options. You may be eligible for lesser known discounts.

Etna

Aetna, one of the largest health insurance companies in the United States, offers one of the most powerful programs to get a free Apple Watch. It’s called Attain from Etna. This promotion encourages eligible Aetna customers to request an Apple Watch and receive the smartwatch in the mail. Customers then have to “profit” their Apple Watch by meeting their daily or weekly activity goals and paying the watch’s value. The Attain app helps customers keep track of their goals and the money they earn.

Or, if you already own an Apple Watch, you can use the Attain app to receive gift cards for activities. Options include Amazon, Best Buy, and CVS gift cards.

United Healthcare

UnitedHealthCare is another major health insurance company running Apple Watch promotions. Like members enrolled in Attain by Aetna, UnitedHealthCare Motion members can earn by transferring Apple Watches. Additionally, all UnitedHealthCare members get one year of complimentary access to Apple Fitness Plus, Apple’s on-demand workout service. An easy way to set up your Apple Fitness Plus for free. However, it is clear that only Motion members can request an Apple Watch.

John Hancock

John Hancock is a life insurance company, but still offers attractive free Apple Watch deals. John Hancock Vitality Plus membership tier allows customers to earn an Apple Watch. almost for free. The starting price of the newest Apple Watch is $25 (excluding tax). Customers must pay the remainder of the 24 months in monthly installments. But the more you train each month, the lower your monthly payment will be. When you collect enough Vitality Points each month, you don’t have to pay extra at the end.

If you don’t need to own an Apple Watch, John Hancock Vitality Plus also offers a free Amazon Halo Band, a free 3-year Halo membership (total value of $244), and a free Fitbit device.

Medicare through Committed Health

Devoted Health is the first private Medicare provider to introduce a Medicare Advantage plan for Apple Watch. Although customers can’t get their Apple Watch completely free, Devoted Health will refund the $150 discount in most cases. That’s a huge discount that’s far better than any offer we’ve seen outside of health insurance.

Called Devoted Health’s Wellness Bucks, these grants can actually be applied to the best smartwatch, best fitness tracker, or other wearable device. Customers can also get a refund of their gym membership or fitness class up to $150.

blue cross blue shield

BlueCross BlueShield currently does not provide a way to fund or credit your Apple Watch. But to convince you to use one of the best Fitbit devices, we’ve included it on this list. With Blue365, you can increase your daily activity and save up to 20% on your Fitbit fitness tracker and Fitbit smartwatch (with top-rated Fitbit Sense).
