How to get an Empyreum house in FFXIV
Image: Square Enix
Saving a house has always been a terrible experience FFXIV, although the developers have made some changes to the housing system, adding a new Empyreum housing area to Ishgard. Our FF14 The Housing Guide explains how to apply for a housing lottery and find a home in your desired new area.
What is the difference between the FFXIV housings?
Prior to patch 6.1, all new housing areas were offered on a first-come, first-served basis. All previously occupied residential lots could be purchased by a new buyer by sitting down and waiting for the invisible timer to expire. This means you have to sit in a lot of places for a random amount of time (which can take up to 20 hours if you’re unlucky) and try to buy a house by clicking on signs.
According to Square Enix “All land available for purchase at the time of the release of patch 6.1 is subject to a lottery system.” In the future, the (old) first-come-first-served system may still be available in some regions, but for now, everything is a lottery.
How does the lottery system work?
Each character can choose a house to participate in the lottery. The house is in the lottery for 5 days. A winner is then selected and the winner is drawn for 4 days. If no claim has been made, a new draw will be initiated for that drawing.
To participate in the lottery, click on the sign in front of the vacant lot you wish to enter. You have to pay the full amount of the land in advance, but if you do not get the land, it will be returned. You will need to double-check the same package to get a refund.
If you win the lottery but do not claim your winnings after winning, you will lose 50% of your deposit.
How do I find a home for myself?
Go to the Empyrean residential area of Ishgard with the right amount of road for the size of the house you want. (Cows are 3-4 million gil, medium 16-20 million gil, and large 40-50 million gil.) Click the icon of the desired bundle, discard the road, and pray for good luck.
To qualify for housing you will need:
- At least one class must be level 50 or higher.
- Large corporation level or higher
How do I get a home for the Free Company?
Finding a home for a free society is pretty much the same. You can only enter one home lottery at a time, but to register for the lottery, click on the symbol for the lot you want. Therefore, once you are enrolled in the Personal House, you cannot re-enroll in the Free Company House.
Any member of an independent company may participate in the lottery as long as they meet the eligibility requirements. This means that an FC can apply for multiple items on a lot if all of their FC team members are applying for the same lot.
To qualify for the free corporate housing lottery, you will need:
- Free companies must be level 6 or higher.
- A FC must have a minimum of 4 members.
- A permit within FC is required to purchase land.
- You must be in FC for at least 30 days.
How about lodging outside of Ishgard?
Many players who have houses in other districts are more likely to enter the Empyrium Lotteries for a better location or bigger house, which means many lots in other districts are smaller. It will be opened after the first lottery period ends.
Square Enix confirmed this via email. everything Even if the lot is moved and opened, it will continue to use the lottery system in Patch 6.1 until further notice.
However, after the initial 9-day lottery period has expired, a new lottery will start. Starting around April 21st (and after the 9th), you can apply for a home lottery in other areas with newly opened lots.
