How To Make a Dog Marionette Puppet
For children’s crafts, recycled crafts are the best. Even better if you are making useable recycled crafts. In this tutorial, I show you how to make a puppy doll, a cute upcycling project your kids will love.
When children learn to make these dolls, they can make many other animals too.

The joy on the children’s faces when making their own dolls is indescribable. More than a full-time employee. It’s a toy, my friend
Although the dolls may look complicated, they are actually very easy to make and may have everything you need at home. Otherwise, there is plenty of room for improvisation.
Isn’t that cool? I want to make the tongue red because it looks cooler.
Your kids will be walking this boy soon.
Ready to make your own? Let’s do it!
How to make a puppy doll
What you need:
- 3 rolls of toilet paper
- picture of your choice
- scissors
- 2 googly eyes or markers to draw eyes
- 1 sheet of colored paper or magazine page (optional) and a circle ruler
- Glue (glugun if supervised by an adult)
- pencil
- 2 wooden sticks
- 5 pipe cleaners (optional)
- line
- 1 bottle cap
- Craft Knife (Adult Only!!!)
- For the nose, I used a small sheet of self-adhesive foam with white glitter, but you can do anything with plain colors.
step-by-step instructions
3 Paint the roll paper. We brown the puppy. Any color is fine.
body
Optional for dots: Using a circle ruler and pencil, draw 10 small and 2 large circles on colored paper.
Then cut it.
Use scissors to make 4 leg holes in a paper roll (adult supervision).
You can also use a hole punch.
Keep an equal distance between them.
Apply some glue to the 10 circles and stick them to the paper roll.
Cut two long threads and thread them through the holes.
Now make two more holes in the center of the body opposite the legs.
Thread a long thread between them.
Take another roll of toilet paper and cut 1/3 of it.
The larger piece serves as the head. We’ll use smaller pieces later.
head
Make two holes in the middle of the toilet paper roll.
Now measure the distance between the body and the head and tie a knot.
Put the head on (thread the hole).
remote control
Wrap the two pipe cleaners in wood and trim off any remaining wood.
Repeat this step one more time to create 2 identical wooden sticks wrapped in chenille bones.
Make an X and secure it with the 5th caterpillar rod in the center.
Straighten your dog and make sure the wires are the same length on both sides.
Then apply glue to one end of the X shape and thread over it.
eye
Glue two larger circles to the head and add googly eyes over the circles.
ears and nose
Cut the 3rd roll of paper to make a bowl. Draw two dog ears and attach them to the head as shown.
Then draw a small nose out of the shiny white self-adhesive foam board and cut it out.
Put your nose on it.
language
Roll out your tongue using 1/3 of the old roll of paper…
…and put it in your mouth.
foot
Quarter the cork and cut it with a cutter.
Then paint the part with acrylic paint and let it dry.
The cork circle acts as a bridge.
Thread the 4 cork circles (insert them into the wire) and make the legs the same length…
…and tie four tight knots. Cut off excess thread.
tail
A small tail was cut from the excess of a paper roll used for the ears and attached to the dog’s body.
Yippie, here we are!
Now start moving the stick up, down, left and right and watch Moggy Mog go crazy.
So much fun!!
Show your friends how to make a stuffed dog just like you so they can play together!
