Once you’ve completed Chapter 1 and are free to explore the open world, you can start your killer hunt at any time. You can visit the locations in any order, but you’ll start in the south of Valentine’s, the first city you visit in the game. At Valentine, take the path to the right of Castor’s Ridge on the map.
A little off the road here is a bridge. As you climb over the bridge, your body hangs from the structure and a few letters are written on the rocks.
To the left of it is a head with a map in its mouth…Okay.
Now all you need to do is find the two remaining pieces to complete the map. The second is to the right of the Braithwaite Manor next to the ‘S’ in ‘Scarlet Meadows’ on the map.
Here’s another corpse, more writing, lined up side by side in an incredibly eerie tree. On the back is another head with the next map piece.
The last section takes us south of Wallace Station over the hills south of the river.
Climb up the hill and you’ll find another rock with a corpse on it. The last part of the map is on the little rock on the left. Excuse the condition of my coat – I was attacked by a bear.
After collecting all three pieces, a message will appear on the screen indicating that the map has been assembled. Open the bag and open it. There is a spooky message on the back, but the image on the front points to a new location on the map and a combination that will unlock everything you find there.
This location is facing Valentine’s again from a place called Lucky’s Cabin (just south of Valentine’s on the map).
Upon arrival, you will see a stranger icon indicating that you are in the correct area. Go to the wreckage of the building and open the basement door when prompted. The best experience at this point is to know a little more about the rest of this hunt, so go ahead if you want to do it now.
Warning, if you want to experience the end of the Killer Clue mystery in Red Dead Redemption 2 for yourself, read no further.

Once you find the killer inside, you’ll have to bring him back to Valentine’s, so mount him on your horse and return to the sheriff. Know that we put the killer in jail and finished this mystery…or?
Just before he is thrown into prison, the killer attacks the sheriff. You can choose here. You can shoot the killer and save the sheriff and get a small reward or let the sequence play until the sheriff takes care of it yourself. If you choose the latter option, you won’t get anything, but it’s more fun.
