How to Use the NFL Mobile App

Watch live football, get breaking news and more.

The official NFL mobile app gives you access to everything you need to get the most out of the football season. Get news, live score updates, the ability to follow your favorite teams, and live streaming content from the NFL Network or the NFL Game Pass. Whether you’re looking for a fantasy football tool or want to access NFL events from anywhere, the NFL app is worth checking out.

The NFL iOS mobile app requires iOS 9.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Apple TV. The NFL Android mobile app requires Android 5 or higher and is compatible with Android smartphones and tablets.

The NFL is a free download for anyone who has free access to all features except streaming coverage. Download from the iOS App Store for iPhone and iPad and Google Play for Android.

When you first open the app, it plays a short video introducing itself and some new features. You will then be prompted to choose which teams to follow and receive notifications. Scroll through the list of NFL teams and hit the star next to the team you want to receive news and notifications from.

Selecting a team will take you to the “News” tab of the app.

Read the latest news

There are 5 sections at the bottom of the app. Messages are highlighted in blue. The above news is divided into three parts. The rest of the NFL app is designed in the same way. Broader categories below and subcategories above.

The default “News” tab is “Highlights”. It includes all the major news from the NFL and includes all teams.

The middle tab contains news from your team. Everything in there relates to the teams you follow and the players in them.

Finally, keep up to date with NFL leagues and special events. When the screenshot above was taken in 2019, the NFL was celebrating its 100th anniversary in football with the NFL 100 campaign.

Find games, schedules and scores

The next big area for NFL apps is gaming. This section shows live score updates, schedule information and quick comparisons of teams competing against each other.

NFL Mobile App Games and Schedule

You always arrive on your current weekly schedule. As shown in the photo above, if there is no match or the off-season, you can meet with one match next week.

Each game listed includes the time, the team playing, and the current score. The first games listed are from your favorite teams to play this week. Otherwise, they are listed in chronological order.

At the top of the screen, the NFL app shows which week you are viewing the schedule for. Tap to see the full list of seasons. Select a week to preview the lineup or look at last week to review your team’s progress.

Learn all about Teams

In the Teams section, you’ll find everything you need to know about your favorite NFL teams and the teams they face this season. To change the displayed team, click the team name, then select a different team from the list.

When you first arrive in Teams, you’ll see key stats about the teams you’re following. At the top of the window, you will see your app’s P&L balance. Just below you will find other interesting information such as managers, stadiums, owners, starting year and social media links.

Next, a list of each team provides an opportunity to purchase tickets and shows the team’s schedule for the season. Here you can see everything Fantasy has to offer to your team or the team you follow.

Below that, the rankings of each team within the league are listed. The app shows your rank in a simple chart that shows you and compares you to league leaders.

Finally, you can see which players on your team have the best stats. This is another great feature for fantasy fans looking for the best players their team has in every aspect of the game.

At the bottom of each team list, the news section for that team is displayed again.

Check leaderboards and stats

As the season kicks off, find out how your team is doing in the competition. The Rankings section of the NFL app displays the standings of teams and rivals within the league and within its division.

There are three ways to sort the leaderboard. By department, by meeting, by league. Each has its own tab. The information they display is the same, but different organizations make it easy to visualize where your team is in any context.

Choose more For a list of available navigation options, the Shop directs you to the NFL Fanatics Shop to purchase licensed equipment. With a ticket, you can purchase a ticket for the next match. Fantasy goes to the NFL’s Fantasy app.

You can also return to the NFL app without exiting the video. press return A button to return to the NFL app and minimize the stream to a corner like a picture-in-picture. When you’re ready to return to the stream, swipe up to the left corner. Swipe right on the minimized stream to close it.

NFL Game Pass on the mobile app page

Game Pass is a standalone subscription that costs $99.99 for the current season as of June 2019. If you have a subscription, you just need to register as a member. You can also create an account and log in through the NFL app. Once you’ve done this, it will also give you access to all Game Pass content.

In the past, Verizon had streaming deals with the NFL through an app. Beginning in early 2019, this Agreement and associated reduced data rates will no longer apply.
