It’s very difficult to figure out how to watch the Clone Wars in order. There are two paths to choose from. Watching episodes in the order they were released or chronologically.

Yes, that’s right. Set between Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars: The Clone Wars was not aired in chronological order. That said, if you want to see the storyline unfold smoothly with no other episodes in between, you’ll have to jump a bit. Here’s how to watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars in order of release.

It couldn’t be easier than this. Disney Plus has already sorted the episodes in the order they aired. From season 1 episode 1, you just have to watch the seasons come out on the streamer. You can even start with the first live action prequel movie.

Watching this way has several key benefits. The series was (obviously) presented in original release order, and at the beginning of each episode there is a recap to give the relevant context. It also offers a very versatile viewing experience. This method is more like a collection of individual stories spanning the galaxy’s Clone Wars period.

For the animated movie Star Wars: Clone Wars, it’s best to watch it first (also streamed on Disney Plus). It’s also worth noting that episodes were released at odd times, given the major films in the Skywalker saga. It’s a good idea to watch the show separately from trying to fit the movies, at least if you’re watching them in release order. In chronological order, the answer is slightly different.

How to watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars in chronological order

Again, this is Star Wars. So obviously there is a much more complex way of working. However, viewing in chronological order can improve your viewing experience. Use this method if you want to watch the animated series in event order.

The advantage of this method is that you can see the story unfold at once without seeing it separate from the other episodes. That way you feel like you’re reading a longer story than an anthology series.

Here is the official chronological order, including the prequel films: Note: Some events in the final season of Clone Wars coincide with Revenge of the Sith. It’s best to watch Episode III and then watch that Clone Wars episode.
