Ironheart Marvel series sets directors – and Ryan Coogler will executive produce

Marvel’s Ironheart TV show has confirmed a director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes will direct the Disney Plus series.

Details of the plot are still unknown, but Dominique Thorne will play Riri Williams, also known as Ironheart. At Marvel Comics, you can expect her journey into the world of superheroes from her show, as Riri makes her own Iron Man suit of her own and has Tony Stark stuffed for her overtime.

Bailey will direct the first three episodes. She also directed episodes of Netflix’s Dear White People (season 4 production), produced the series You’re So Talented, produced Brown Girls with Fatimah Asghar, and worked on Mixed-ish and Grown-ish.

Meanwhile, Barnes will direct the last three episodes. Her directing work includes episodes from Mythic Quest, Blindspotting, Social Distance, Teenage Bounty Hunters, One Day at a Time, and Atlanta Season 4 (coming soon) on Apple TV Plus.

Black Panther and Black Panther: Forever’s director Ryan Coogler joined the project as Executive Producer. Thorne makes her debut as Lily in Wakanda Forever, which is due out on November 11th.

Anthony Ramos and Lyric Ross of This Is Us, along with Thorne, Hamilton and In The Heights stars, will appear on the Disney Plus show. Chinaka Hodge is Executive Writer and Executive Producer.

A release date for this series has not yet been set, but this year, Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk will be on the small screen, while Doctor Strange 2, Thor: Love and Thunder and Wakanda Forever will be on the big screen. Next up is Doctor Strange from Multiverse of Madness, releasing on May 6th.
