Mads Mikkelsen says Indiana Jones 5 gets back to the ‘original feel’ of the first and second movies

Mads Mikkelsen has revealed that the upcoming Indiana Jones movie is going back to its roots.

In 2021 it was announced that Mikkelsen would join the cast of the untitled sequel alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, and of course Harrison Ford.

Not much has been revealed about the new film, but Mikkelsen says it exudes the classic action-adventure nostalgia for the first two films.

“[Raiders of the Lost Ark] It was one of my favorite films, and it oozes the golden age of 1940s serials. It’s the fifth movie,” Mikkelsen told The Hollywood Reporter. “They go back a lot to the first and second films to get the original feel, original indie, dense and majestic.”

While Steven Spielberg directed the first four installments of the epic adventure franchise, the fifth is the first to hand over to other directors led by Ford v Ferrari and Logan, directed by Hugh Jackman, and James Mangold, who directed The Wolverine. . “It felt like a Spielberg movie, but it’s clear that James had the same vision,” Mikkelsen says.

Spielberg has resigned, but Ford, now 80, is still ready to return to his role as Indiana Jones. Mikkelsen was impressed with the energy and power of the old Ford, and was a little terrified.

“I met him for the first time and he was an incredibly powerful man,” he says. “Not only as an actor, but also physically. I remember the first day we filmed. It was a night shoot and then finished at 5am. Then he cycled 50 km on a mountain bike. Harrison is a human monster, a very good monster.”

Mikkelsen takes over Johnny Depp, who was kicked out of the role after “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” in 2018, and plays Gilert Grindelwald in “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Dumbledore.” The movie is in the cinema now.
