It’s not even Pride Month yet, but it’s not too early to start feeling better. Wizards of the Coast have announced their upcoming Secret Lair collection of alternative art cards for: Magic Gathering, each illustrated by an LGBTQ+ artist. Appropriately, the collection is called Pride Across.

Released in 2020, Secret Lair is a print-on-demand series. Magic Fans purchase custom versions of existing maps. This special set is only available for a limited time, but in this case you have plenty of time to buy. Pride of the Multiverse is available for pre-order from May 4th to June 30th. Wizards of the Coast donate half of its proceeds to the Trevor Project, a non-profit organization that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ+ youth.

Stephanie Cheung, Artistic Director of Pride Across Multiverse, described the process as follows: Having a diverse range of artists is an important part of celebrating the diversity of communities and experiences.” Cheung also said, “There was no way this collection of eight cards could represent. Everyone We wanted to respect the hope and joy that can be found in our multifaceted identity.”

Finally, Cheung highlighted the key characteristics that unite these cards. Stories are the way we live our hopes, and I think it is very important to actually put them into practice, to hold on to, and to hope to be true. It is our victory and we will shape the future with our fierce resilience.”

The 8-card set costs $39.99 for the regular version and $49.99 for the foil version. They come in a rainbow foil box. The order also includes a code for the virtual card sleeve. Magic: The Gathering Arena; The four card designs at the top of this article show what they look like.

Cheung concluded by emphasizing the core qualities that unite these cards: “Each card in Pride Across the Multiverse tells its own story of love, struggle, resilience, joy, and community. Stories are how we practice hope, and I think it’s so important to hope, to really be in the practice of holding fast and remaining true. It is our triumph, and we will shape the future with our ferocious resilience.”
