Moon Knight’s May Calamawy is open to bringing Scarlet Scarab back to the MCU

The finale of Moon Knight introduced Layla as Marvel’s first Egyptian superhero, which turned out to be Scarlet Scarab after the episode aired. She took the mantle when she agreed to Taweret’s avatar in the human realm to stop Ammit. She only met briefly at the series finale, but I wonder if we’ll see her again.

In Episode 6 of Moon Knight, she tries to stop the plans of Ammit and Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke), with Moon Knight and Mr. I worked with Knight (both Oscar Isaac). She played a key role in taking them down and rescuing innocent civilians along the way.

Moon Knight season 2 is yet to be confirmed, but actress May Calamawy says she’s ready to bring the character back. “Never reject a spinoff,” the actress told IndieWire. “I fell in love with her and her fights. Layla has a lot of mysteries surrounding her, so I think she deserves her extension.”

Calamawy also said he hopes the character can inspire others as well. She continued, “I believe she has a wonderful and powerful message and can continue to inspire and open doors to others. I think this is the ministry I have to do and Layla feels like she’s a part of it. So I want to continue helping in this way.”
