New Budget Sonos Soundbar Leaks: Here’s What To Expect

Grayson Blackmon / The Edge

The upcoming Sonos soundbar is expected to cost around $249, which is a lot lower than the price Beam (2nd gen) is selling. This clearly indicates that a compromise is being made. For starters, the speaker lacks Dolby Atmos, one of the major upgrades Sonos has added to the Beam (2nd Gen). Since the soundbar doesn’t even have a microphone to call a voice assistant, it should also lack smart features. Another missing feature is the HDMI port for ARC/eARC. However, an optical audio cable is included.

The Sonos Fury (not the final name) also supports vertical mounting, assuming some may want to pair it with a Sonos Arc. Sonos will also sell a vertical mount for those interested in that setup, but there’s no mention of accessory costs. The soundbar is rumored to launch on June 7th, and it’s unclear if it will ship with the “Model S37” variant, a subwoofer smaller and cheaper than the $749 Sub (Gen 3) subwoofer. Sonos Currently on sale.

The upcoming Sonos soundbar is expected to cost about $249 which is significantly lower than what the Beam (Gen 2) sells for. That definitely suggests compromises will be made. For starters, the speaker won’t have Dolby Atmos, one of the main upgrades Sonos added to the Beam (Gen 2). The soundbar also lacks microphones for calling up the voice assistant so it is also likely to lack smart features. Another missing feature is an HDMI port for ARC/eARC. However, it will have an optical audio cable bundled with it.
The Sonos Fury (not the final name) will also have support for vertical mounting under the assumption that some might want to pair it with the Sonos Arc. Sonos will also reportedly sell vertical mounts for those interested in this setup, although there’s no mention of how much the accessory will cost. The soundbar is reported to be set for a June 7 release date and it’s unclear if it will launch alongside the “model S37” product, which is a smaller and more affordable subwoofer than the $749 Sub (Gen 3) subwoofer that Sonos currently sells.
