The Exynos 2200 is the result of a multi-year collaboration between Samsung and AMD as the processor’s GPU is built using the latter’s RDNA 2 graphics architecture. According to Samsung, this will allow a GPU called Samsung Xclipse to provide features like hardware-accelerated ray tracing on mobile devices.

Ray tracing is a technology that provides an immersive experience enhanced by Exynos chips by simulating realistic lighting in video games. This technique can strain your device’s CPU and reduce performance. To solve this problem, Samsung also adds variable rate shading and advanced multi-IP governor technology.

Together, the two features aim to improve the performance and efficiency of Xclipse to ensure smooth gameplay. There is also HDR10+, which offers a refresh rate of up to 144Hz.

In addition to gaming, the Exynos 2200 supports ultra-high resolutions up to 200MP and 8K resolution for video. The processor also uses “Content Recognition AI”, which recognizes faces, objects and the environment and applies optimal settings to the scene for easy, professional photography.

It’s all powered by Exynos’ 8-core CPU, which consists of a high-performance Cortex-X2, three performance-balanced Cortex-A170 cores, and four energy-efficient Cortex-A510 cores.

Samsung has stated that the Exynos 2200 is currently in mass production, but has not revealed what future devices the powerful new processor will be used in.
