Video Game Prime Day Trading FAQ

Best Amazon Prime Day Deals

When will video game trading start on Prime Day?

It’s hard to say when Prime Day video game deals will arrive, but Amazon has now confirmed that the sale event is expected to begin sometime in July. This is a return to the company’s traditions.

Unfortunately we don’t know anything about the exact date yet. However, there is strong suspicion that everything will go down on Monday and Tuesday in mid-March, based on previous trends. This is how Amazon has always behaved in the past, so I don’t see the situation changing in 2022. So, the most likely candidates for this year’s Prime Day video game deal will be the week after July 11-12 or July 18. -19.

Do I need a Prime Membership for Prime Day video game deals?

As the name suggests, you actually need a Prime membership to access most Prime Day video game deals. The best deals are usually hidden behind this paywall.

The competition always starts with your own savings.

That doesn’t mean you’re bogged down without a subscription. Benefits for non-members is Available for the duration of the event and competitors are always tied to their savings. That said, keep an eye out for good deals from Best Buy, Walmart, and others. The price also goes down.

What to Expect from Prime Day Video Game Deals in 2022

Hoping to Get a Discount on the Elden Ring on Amazon Prime Day Video Game Deals This Year (Image Credit: Bandai Namco)

Prime Day doesn’t usually make headlines for video game deals (the focus shifts primarily to Prime Day laptop deals), but that doesn’t mean you can’t save money if you know where to look.

Older console games tend to account for most of the discount. Newly published press releases are rarely discounted, but last year’s titles could be heavily discounted in honor of that day. So, the Amazon sales event is a great opportunity to catch up on anything you’ve missed out on in the last few months.

That said, I’m pretty sure games like Deathloop, one of the 2021 tentpole releases, will get significant price cuts in July. Judging by Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (which was released around the same time last year and over 50% off for prime day video game deals 2021), that’s a significant discount.

Even the heavyweights of early 2022 (Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and Lego Star Wars: Skywalker Saga) wouldn’t be surprised if they also get price cuts on Prime Day. The same thing happened at Returnal last April, down almost 30% overall. So this year, we’ll be able to enjoy a similar cutback with the same new game.

Consoles are likely to drop significantly in July.

So what about Nintendo releases like Kirby and Forgotten Land or Pokemon Legends Arceus? It’s plausible for them to save, but we wouldn’t expect significant savings. That’s because Nintendo rarely lowers the prices of their games during the months after launch (even after that, to be honest), so a modest price cut is the best we can expect.

Luckily, accessories like the best gaming headsets are good contenders. Be careful if you’re looking to upgrade your setup, as the Razer is particularly good at cutting prices.

Should we expect PS5 restocking or Xbox Series X restocking too? Perhaps. Can’t say for sure (both machines have been hard to come by for over a year), but there’s a good chance the consoles will drop significantly this July. First of all, new Xboxes are getting easier and easier to get over time. Also, if you have it in stock, it will stay in stock longer. Do to appear. It gives us hope for the Prime Day jackpot.

PlayStation is less obvious, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the stock rises during the sale. Amazon says its past stock will be reserved for Prime members, a better time than Prime Day video game deals.

Below is a list of the best Prime Day video game deals from last year. Titles like Resident Evil Village and Assassin’s Creed caught the attention thanks to significant discounts of up to 50%. If you’re lucky, you’ll see similar discounts for late 2021 and early 2022 releases.

Here are some of the best Prime Day video game deals from last year.

Best gold deals for video games in 2021

painting

Return (PS5) | $69.99 $49.99 on Amazon
With nearly 30% cost savings, Returnal was one of the most impressive deals of last year’s Prime Day video game deals. It’s also still fairly new, so this time around, it’s sparked hopes for a curtailed 2022 release. To be precise, it was released at the end of April 2021. This means we can expect a similar price drop for April 2022 games like Lego Star Wars.

painting

Demon Souls (PS5) | $69.99 $49 on Amazon

This remake of the popular PS3 game that started it all has dropped significantly in price for a prime day video game deal in 2021, and although there’s been a long time (seven months) between launch and discounts, it still gives us hope. Ring will enjoy similar savings in 2022.

painting

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (Xbox Series X) | $59.99 $22.99 on Amazon

The big news is that the latest deals from one of the biggest franchises in the world are getting huge discounts. With over 50% savings, it was an excellent deal for video games on Prime Day 2021. Given that it was released in November 2020, the Deathloop (the 2021 shelf launched in September) will be treated similarly this year.

painting

Watch Dogs: Legion (PS5) | $60 $19.99 at Best Buy
This was a perfect example of why you shouldn’t be obsessed with Amazon during prime day video game trading. I was surprised by the drop in Watch Dogs Legion prices at the time, thanks to a $40 rebate from rival retailer Best Buy.

painting

Luigi’s Mansion 3 (Nintendo Switch Digital Code) | $59.99 $39.99 on Amazon
As you may already know, Nintendo games are seldom sold. With that in mind, the price drop for the latest Luigi’s Mansion for Switch wasn’t a deal not to miss (even if it was digital code and not a physical release).

painting

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition (PS5) | $69.99 $49.99 on Amazon
The sequel to the PS4 Spider-Man Outing Gets Huge Discounts for Prime Day 2021, and a $20 discount is the kind of thing you can expect for a discount this year.

What to expect from Prime Day video game deals 2022

Here’s hoping we get a discount for Elden Ring in this year’s Amazon Prime Day video game deals (Image credit: Bandai Namco)
Prime Day doesn’t tend to make headlines for its video game deals (the focus is often on Prime Day laptop deals instead), but that isn’t to say you can’t make a saving if you know where to look.
Older console games typically make up the bulk of the discounts. While fresh-off-the-press releases rarely get a discount, titles from the last year or so can be steeply reduced in honor of the day. That makes the Amazon sales event a good opportunity to catch up on anything you’ve missed from the last few months.
In other words, we’re confident that the likes of Deathloop – one of 2021’s tentpole launches – will receive weighty price cuts this July. Judging by Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (which launched in a similar time-frame the year before and was reduced by more than 50% for 2021’s Prime Day video game deals), a sizeable discount should be on its way.
We wouldn’t be surprised if early 2022 heavy-hitters (Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga) got a price cut during Prime Day either. The same thing happened with April’s Returnal last year, and it dropped by almost 30% overall. As such, it’s plausible that we’ll enjoy a similar reduction on equally new games this year.

It’s possible that a major console drop will happen this July

What about Nintendo releases such as Kirby and the Forgotten Land or Pokemon Legends Arceus, then? It’s plausible that they’ll get a saving, but we wouldn’t count on a significant one. That’s because Nintendo rarely cuts the price of its games in the months after release (and even beyond that, to be honest), so a modest reduction is the best we can hope for.
Fortunately, accessories like the best gaming headsets are good contenders for a reduction. Razer in particular is excellent at slashing its prices, so be sure to keep an eye out if you want to upgrade your setup.
Should you expect a PS5 restock or an Xbox Series X restock as well? Maybe. Although we can’t say for sure (both machines have been difficult to get hold of for more than a year now), it’s possible that a major console drop will happen this July. For starters, the new Xbox is becoming easier to get hold of as time wears on. Additionally, it stays in stock for longer when it does appear. That gives us hope for a Prime Day bonanza.
PlayStation is less clear cut, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see stock rear its head during the sale either. Amazon has expressed that its restocks will be reserved for Prime members in the past, and there’s no better time to make good on that statement than the Prime Day video game deals.
