Renowned Pokémon Designers Tease New RPG With Name-Guessing Contest

A new RPG from a group of renowned Pokémon designers, such as Atsuko Nishida, is teased to release soon, with a name-guessing contest being held before the reveal of the mysterious “Project TriTri.” Famous designer Atsuko Nishida is perhaps best known for designing some of the most familiar faces in Pokémon. This includes being the creator of Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, most of the Eevee-lutions, and Pikachu.

Atsuko Nishida has been a prolific character designer in the world of Pokémon since the beginning, creating an impressive handful of its most iconic characters. Along with the Pokémon themselves, she has also illustrated several Pokémon trading cards and characters from the first couple of Pokémon movies. Other notable Pokémon artists include Tomohiro Kitakaze, who worked as a 2D Designer for GameFreak, and Megumi Mizutani, who designed Pokémon such as Mimikyu and the Hisuian versions of Growlithe and Arcanine.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

These Pokémon designers dropped a teaser for a game they are currently calling “Project TriTri,” but this is not the game’s official name. The logo on Project TriTri‘s website is mostly covered, but it suggests that both words of the title will begin with “Tri.” The developers are currently holding a contest wherein people can guess the title’s full name. Three winners who guess correctly will win an Amazon gift certificate for 10,000 yen, which is just under $80. The website also shows art for potential characters and environments, along with hints on the game’s story.

Project TriTri’s website has a list of prominent names working on this project, including Tomohiro Kitakaze and Megumi Mizutani. Other designers and developers include Nobuteru Yuki, Raita Kazama, Yura Kubota, and Hiroki Kikuta, of Chrono Cross, Mana, Xenoblade Chronicles, Bravely Default II, and Octopath Traveler fame. Domerica Co is listed as the project’s animators; this company is known for its work on The World Ends with You: The Animation. The project’s design team is looking to be an all-star cast, with legends from a number of beloved RPG series. With every person and company listed already boasting major credits on other prolific RPGs, it’s looking to be a highly competent team. If that’s not enough to inspire confidence, the website’s striking artwork might do the trick.

While anyone curious to try their hand at guessing the title will likely be going through every “Tri-” word they can think of, the clock for the game’s title announcement ticks down. In a matter of days, the real title for “Project TriTri” will be revealed. With legendary designers from Pokémon at the helm, this project is sure to intrigue all manner of RPG fans.
