Rogers has invested more than $4 billion in 5G deployments in 2019 and more than $2 billion in 2020. They are currently in the process of rolling out their 5G networks and making them available to all customers with the right devices.

The company has been silent about a fixed wireless access (FWA) solution for 5G access at home and has announced plans to launch only mobile 5G that works with 5G phones.

  • Rogers announced in early 2018 that it will conduct 5G trials in Toronto and Ottawa. A 5G test conducted by Rogers in collaboration with Ericsson demonstrated the low latency achievable with 5G networks using virtual reality headsets.
  • In late 2018, Rogers announced a partnership with the University of British Columbia (UBC) to create a “real 5G hub” that will work on cutting-edge 5G projects that include autonomous vehicles, robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and more. more.
