Scarlet & Violet’s Lechonk Has The Best New Pokémon Name In Years

Because Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s region is seemingly based on Spain, some other Pokémon have had Spanish words used in their English names, including Scarlet and Violet’s starter Pokémon Sprigatito, with “gatito” being Spanish for kitten. “Lechón” is Spanish for suckling pig, or a piglet young enough to still be fed its mother’s milk. Adding a “k” to the end of lechón is not only a great way to make use of the two words, but it also cleverly draws attention to an almost tragic duality for this adorable Pokémon: it loves to eat delicious food, but is a delicacy itself.
