Joe Earley, president of Hulu, shared the update and expressed his excitement about the acquisition. “Based on the number of Schitt’s Creek GIFs that we loose every day, it’s absolutely no surprise that Johnny, Moira, Alexis, ‘Daviiid’ and Hulu are welcomed by the surprisingly unique residents of Schitt’s Creek,” he said.
“We want to share with our subscribers our award-winning, incredibly entertaining, yet touching, series and characters,” Earley said. “We know they’ll get along well.” There is currently no announcement as to whether the show will also leave Netflix UK in the UK, but we will keep you posted as we get updates.
For those who don’t know, the series was created by Eugene and Dan Levy, who also played Johnny and David Rose on the show. Together with Moira (Catherine O’Hara) and Alexis (Annie Murphy), we follow the Rose family, who loses all their money and has to live in a motel.
Schitt’s Creek initially aired for six seasons on Canadian broadcasters CBC and Pop TV. However, it has gained popularity abroad through Netflix. Dan Levy will continue to connect with Netflix despite the news, as Dan Levy has an extensive deal with the streaming service to make new series and movies.
