Autumn crafts for kids are about forest animals, felling and trees that change color. Hedgehogs are one of the cutest woodland creatures and this craft idea perfectly reflects that. It’s super easy to make, and you can make it even funnier by putting apples or pears on your hedgehog (although it’s not actually the way you wear it).
How to Make Hedgehog Paper Crafts Easily
What you need:
- tan construction paper (letter or A4 size is preferred)
- dark brown construction paper
- black construction paper
- Googly Eyes or Eye Stickers
- scissors
- glue
step-by-step instructions
You will need a long, fairly wide tan canvas. We made it about 2 inches/5 cm wide.
To make a straight cut line, you can fold the paper to make a crease, then cut along the crease.
Apply glue to one end of the paper strip.
Glue the ends together to form a “drop” shape.
Once the glue has hardened, you can cut the corners and round them to fit the hedgehog’s face (or you can leave them alone or make them pointed).
Next we need to create the spikes. Cut a thin strip of dark brown construction paper (you may need more than one).
Cut a piece of paper into small pieces and cut diagonally to make a long diamond shape.
Apply glue to the tip (half only)…
…attached to the hedgehog’s body.
Add as many as you like.
Cut an oval or round shape from black drawing paper and attach it to the hedgehog.
Add two eyes and you’re done.
see? Simple and sweet?
We love easy hedgehog paper crafts!
And I hope you like it too and do a lot with your kids.

How to make a simple hedgehog paper craft
What do you need:
light brown construction paper (letter or A4 size works great)
dark brown construction paper
black construction paper
googly eyes or eye stickers
the scissors
glue
Step by step tutorial
We need a long, fairly wide strip of light brown construction paper. We made ours to be about 2 inches / 5 cm wide.
To make a straight cut line, you can fold the paper to make a crease, then cut along the crease.
Apply glue to one end of the strip of paper.
Glue the ends together forming a “teardrop” shape.
When the glue sets, you can trim the corners to make them nice and round for the hedgehog’s face (or leave them as they are or even make them pointy).
Next, we need to do the spikes. Cut a thin strip of dark brown construction paper (you may need more than one).
Cut the strip of paper into small pieces, cutting diagonally to form long diamond shapes.
Apply glue to the tips (only half)…
…and stick them on the body of the hedgehog.
Add as many as you want.
Cut an oval or round shape out of black construction paper and glue it to the hedgehog.
Add two eyes and you’re done.
