Sims 4 Developers’ Cryptic DLC Teasers Decoded By Players

Clever Sims 4 players have decoded two cryptic messages tweeted by developers teasing the game’s next DLC. The development team recently announced a new Sims 4 Game Pack would be released by the end of June, dropping many hints that the new DLC will be werewolf themed, although nothing has been confirmed yet about the Game Pack’s true contents.

Since its release, The Sims 4 has come to offer several different sizes of DLC to players which add new features to the game. Game Packs add the second-most amount of content, outsized only by Expansion Packs. Game Packs typically add a new form of gameplay to The Sims 4, sometimes alongside a new in-game world. Past Game Packs have introduced different playable supernatural types – a feature that has been present in every entry in the series in some form – like spell casters and vampires to The Sims 4.

Mysterious posts from Sims 4 developers like SimGuruConor and SimGuruDoi amongst others on Twitter caused much fan speculation this week as players tried to crack the coded messages posted by creators. The messages, which were made of symbols like stars, moons, and vases, were decoded by two clever Reddit users, Guinydyl and dolewhiplash to reveal a series of cryptic messages that may indicate werewolves are coming soon. SimGuruConor’s tweet was translated to “a territory marking log,” and SimGuruDoi’s was decoded to mean “welcome to Moonwood Mill.” Tweets translated by the users from other developers included the messages, “there were Mooncasters here” and “where did all these frogs come from.”

Perhaps the most telling of all these is the message regarding Moonwood Mill, which sounds like it could be a new in-game world. Previously, a lot of promotional material for the upcoming games – and even that for released titles like the Little Campers Kit – have included moon imagery, heavily implying upcoming werewolves. This would be incredibly exciting news for many players – many think the inclusion of werewolves would make The Sims 4 more fun and add unique new gameplay options as it has in previous titles. In older iterations of the game, werewolves became available to play with much earlier into the game’s lifespan, so their inclusion seven years after the release of The Sims 4 would be incredibly welcome.

Not every Sims 4 player is a fan of supernatural gameplay, and some prefer to play only as normal Sims. However, those that do enjoy playing with creatures like vampires and spell casters in-game tend to be large fans of the gameplay mechanics of supernaturals, and are eager for a new way to create and level up interesting creatures. This isn’t the first time Sims 4 developers have teased new content through Twitter, but it is by far the most mysterious way it’s been done and has made the game’s community incredibly curious. Although it’s still unclear what Game Pack is coming next for The Sims 4, these messages from developers make a strong case that fans could be seeing werewolves in their games by the end of June.
