Sims 4 NPCs Won’t Stop Adopting Dogs Thanks To Neighborhood Stories
With the Neighborhood Stories update, players have noticed that some NPCs in The Sims 4 won’t stop adopting dogs. Neighborhood Stories were added to The Sims 4 in November 2021, serving as a new way to expand upon life changes in Neighbor Sims, aka most NPCs, who live outside the player’s active household. Developers stretched these changes across multiple updates, with the first affecting the lives of Sims directly connected to the player’s main characters – gym friends and coworkers included.
The initial version of Neighborhood Stories allowed NPCs to begin making lifestyle adjustments. Neighbor Sims now have the ability to make career decisions, choose to have children, or accept a marriage proposal, for example. Active Sims impact these decisions by offering up certain suggestions, too. An Active Sim can belittle one NPC, which may lead to another reducing their relationship with the person a player bad-mouthed. Interestingly, the most recent Neighborhood Stories update for Sims 4 allows NPCs to invite new loved ones into their own homes by adopting kids and pets.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY
A March 2022 update for The Sims 4 unlocked Neighborhood Stories wherein Neighbor Sims can adopt kids and pets. It now seems as though a few NPCs may be a little over-eager about expanding their families. Reddit user Mitchxhell recently shared a post about how one Sim died and another immediately took in their three small children and dogs. That Sim, Rahul Chopra, has a few too many mouths to feed now, but they seem up to the challenge. Another Redditor, finchyjjigae, shared a similar tale, recounting how repeated notifications about Brant and Brent Hecking adopting dogs led to the humorous realization that the pair had brought home no less than six different canines. Read both posts in the links below:
Perhaps Sims 4 families like the Chopras and Heckings are well on their way to owning the dog ranch that so many dream of one day running. In true Sims fashion, though, this may constitute little more than a glitch that will have to be patched out later. However, it’s weird to think that excessive dog adoption could count as an in-game error.
The Sims 4 is no stranger to the odd glitch of late. One recent update resulted in an NPC randomly turning into something out of a Poppy Playtime-style nightmare, complete with creepily long arms and fingers. Meanwhile, the patch that went live in late April has caused issues wherein some Active Sims refuse to make or eat salads. If and when developers will tackle these troubles remains unknown as of writing.
The Sims 4 is playable on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
