Sonic the Hedgehog Hints Tails’ Cyborg Replacement Is Turning Traitor

As of now, it’s unclear what actually happens between the two cyborgs to compel Kit to leave Surge, especially when Tails would never betray Sonic in a million years. But based upon how badly Surge has treated Kit in past issues, it’s not too difficult to speculate on the reason. What’s truly exciting is how protective Tails appears to be of his cyborg replacement. Since Kit is modeled after him, Tails should feel some sort of bond with the fennec, and it’s likely that the twin-tailed fox will take on a brotherly role as a result. This is a highly welcome development since, like most renditions of Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails is dismissed as a good-for-nothing sidekick. Tails is highly intelligent and has helped Sonic on more than one occasion, but it’s difficult for him to actually shine. And this is sure to happen now as Tails will likely take on the same role that Sonic has for him. Sonic is always portrayed as the big brother figure of Tails, and now that Kit has no memories of his past life before Dr. Starline transformed him into a cyborg, Kit is essentially like a little kid.

Although the 50th issue of IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog promises a battle royal of epic proportions, fans are especially hyped over the next two installments thanks to the reveal of these new covers. But issues Sonic the Hedgehog #51 and #52 could signal a major change for the series, with Kit the Fennec joining up with the heroes as well as a new role for Tails, and fans are right to be excited.
