Star Wars: Every Jedi Who Survived Order 66 (In Canon)
Order 66 was a pivotal moment in Star Wars history, with Palpatine ordering the clone troopers to execute the Jedi, but there were a handful of survivors. Palpatine orchestrated the Clone Wars as the perfect Jedi trap, with a galaxy’s worth of pain and suffering cutting the Jedi off from the light side of the Force. The Clone Wars ended with Order 66, as Palpatine issued the command to kill all Jedi.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars revealed the clones had no choice but to obey Palpatine. All the clones had been implanted with an inhibitor chip, one that would constrain their own judgment and force them to obey Palpatine’s will. And so, when the command was given, Order 66 was executed with ruthless efficiency and without remorse. Meanwhile, on Coruscant, Anakin Skywalker – now christened Darth Vader – led his clones in an attack on the Jedi Temple itself – cutting down the Jedi Younglings personally.

And yet, as efficient as the clones may have been, there were inevitably survivors of this Jedi purge. Some Jedi were sensitive to the reverberations in the Force and realized something was wrong – reacting at speed to preserve their lives. Other Jedi received help, allowing them to slip away into the shadows. And still, others were simply lucky. Palpatine believed only the light of the Jedi could challenge his reign, so he commanded Darth Vader and his Inquisitors to scour the galaxy, hunting them down. Here are all the known survivors who would have appeared on the Inquisitors’ lists having survived Order 66.
Yoda
As seen in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Yoda was on Kashyyyk helping the native Wookiees fight off the Confederacy’s Droid Army when Order 66 was issued. With the help of Chewbacca and Tarfful, Yoda fled Kashyyyk to meet with Bail Organa and Obi-Wan on Alderaan. Shortly after, Yoda and Obi-Wan returned to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, where they learned of Anakin’s betrayal and Palpatine’s Sith identity. The aged Jedi Master went into hiding, although the Empire seemed to have thought Yoda dead.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan was on the planet Utapau hunting down General Grievous when Clone Commander Cody got the order to strike down his Jedi general. Obi-Wan, who was traversing up a cliff on the lizard-like Boga, fell into the waters below and managed to escape the planet without the clones noticing. After his duel with Anakin on Mustafar, Obi-Wan delivered infant Luke to his aunt and uncle and Tatooine and spent most of his remaining years protecting Luke from afar.
Ahsoka Tano & Maul
Ahsoka Tano was introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as Anakin’s Padawan, but she left the Jedi Order during season 5. Unfortunately, Ahsoka was drawn back into Jedi affairs in Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 when she returned to participate in the Siege of Mandalore. Ahsoka was on her way to deliver a captured Maul to the Jedi Council on Coruscant when Anakin fell to the dark side, and she sensed something was wrong through her bond with him. Ahsoka set Maul free as a distraction and learned about the inhibitor chip, managing to remove Rex’s chip. The two fought their way through former friends until their ship crashed on an unidentified moon. Ahsoka and Rex faked their own deaths, although Darth Vader knew she had survived through a Force vision.
The Grand Inquisitor
The Grand Inquisitor was the main antagonist of the first season of Star Wars Rebels, but after his death, it was revealed that he used to be a Jedi Knight and a Temple guard. He was present for Ahsoka’s trial when she was accused of bombing the Jedi Temple and betraying the Order. It was ultimately revealed that Ahsoka was innocent, but the false accusation and the Order’s treatment of Ahsoka left the Grand Inquisitor disillusioned with the Jedi Order, and he defected before Order 66, ultimately falling to the dark side. Later, he was approached by Emperor Palpatine about heading the Inquisitorius, a band of Jedi hunters.
Caleb Dume
The Padawan of Depa Billaba, Caleb Dume, survived Order 66 thanks to Clone Force 99. As seen in Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 1, these mutant clones were able to resist their inhibitor chips, and they were understandably bewildered when their brother clones started executing Jedi. They helped Caleb escape, and – as told in tie-in comics – a young Caleb was taken in by the smuggler Janus Kasmir, who advised him to abandon all connections to the Jedi. Caleb took up the name Kanan Jarrus and became a crucial figure in the Rebellion, one of the heroes of Star Wars: Rebels.
Luminara Unduli
Jedi Master Luminara Unduli was revealed to have survived the initial execution in Star Wars Rebels. When the order was given, Luminara was on Kashyyyk alongside Yoda, and instead of being killed, she was captured and taken to the Spire on Stygeon Prime. She was executed by the Grand Inquisitor not long after, but the Empire kept her remains and spread rumors that she lived to lure surviving Jedi to them.
Reva
Introduced in the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ TV show, Reva was another member of the Inquisitors – and a particularly dangerous one, whose Force talent of empathy made her a skilled huntress. Tie-in comics have established that all Inquisitors are former Jedi, and given her age, Reva appears to be one of the few Younglings to escape the massacre at the Jedi Temple. She burned with a fierce hatred of the Jedi.
Fifth Brother & Seventh Sister
The Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister were members of the Imperial Inquisitors and secondary antagonists in Star Wars Rebels alongside the Grand Inquisitor. It was revealed in the Darth Vader comics that all inquisitors were fallen Jedi. Any Jedi who weren’t executed as part of the Great Jedi Purge after Order 66 were turned to the dark side and tasked with hunting down surviving Jedi, Force-sensitive children, and political dissidents. Both the Fifth Brother and Seventh sister were unnamed former Jedi who survived Order 66 and were forced into the Inquisitorius program.
Trilla Suduri & The Ninth Sister
Other members of the Inquistorious were Trilla Suduri, the Second Sister, and the unnamed Ninth Sister, both antagonistic characters in the canonical video game Jedi: Fallen Order. Trilla was the former Padawan of Cere Junda; surviving Order 66, the two went into hiding with a group of Younglings they were protecting. Unfortunately, both were captured and subjected to torture. Cere managed to escape, but Trilla’s torture turned her into the sadistic Second Sister. The end of Jedi: Fallen Order saw the Ninth Sister killed in battle with Cal Kestis, while Trilla was struck down by Darth Vader himself for her failure to comply with her Inquisitor duties.
Cere Junda
After she was captured by Empire forces, Cere Junda broke under torture and gave up her padawan, a contributing factor to Trilla’s fall to the dark side. Sometime after Trilla’s transformation into the Second Sister, she was brought in to mock Cere’s failure as a Jedi and a Master. Overflowing with rage and regret, Cere tapped into the dark side and killed everyone in the room (though Trilla survived) before making her escape. Cere cut herself off from the Force after that, afraid of falling deeper into the dark side, until she met Cal Kestis.
Cal Kestis
Cal Kestis, the hero of Fallen Order was a child at the end of the Clone Wars and the padawan of Jaro Tapal, the only known member of Lasat species to be trained as a Jedi. Like Yoda, Tapal felt the fall of his Jedi brethren during Order 66 and managed to protect Cal long enough to safely escape to the planet Bracca. Tapal, unfortunately, was fatally wounded and died in his padawan’s arms. Cal has carried his perished master’s lightsaber ever since.
Taron Malicos
Taron Malicos was a trusted Jedi General during the Clone Wars who was first introduced in Fallen Order. After he struck down his clone troopers, Malicos crash-landed on Dathomir, home of the Dathomir witches known as Nightsisters. When he met Merrin, the last surviving Nightsister, he told her the Jedi were responsible for the genocide of her sisters and promised her revenge if she taught him Nightsister magick. When Cal Kestis came to Dathomir and learned of Malicos’ deceit, the two dueled until Merrin used her Nightsister magick to entomb Malicos in the ground. It’s possible more about Malicos may be learned as the Fallen Order franchise expands with future games.
Jocasta Nu
Jocasta Nu was the librarian of the Jedi Archives in the Temple on Coruscant. It hasn’t been revealed how exactly Jocasta survived the initial execution, but in the Darth Vader comics, Sidious wanted Jocasta to be brought to him alive since her wealth of knowledge would have been valuable to the Empire. When Jocasta returned to the Jedi Temple for more Holocrons with plans to start a school and restore the Jedi Order, she crossed paths with the Grand Inquisitor when Darth Vader intervened. After a prolonged confrontation, Vader and a platoon of Coruscant shock troopers managed to capture and restrain Jocasta on a patrol transport. There, Jocasta revealed Darth Vader’s true identity, which she learned from a droid in the archives. To keep his secret, Vader killed every shock trooper and Jocasta, who accepted her fate.
Nari
Introduced in the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ TV show, Nari was a human Jedi who somehow survived Order 66 and spent nine years trying to find a way to fight back against the Empire. His travels eventually took him to Tatooine, pursued by the Inquisitors, and he unwittingly put both Obi-Wan and the young Luke Skywalker at risk. Obi-Wan tried to persuade Nari to abandon being a Jedi, but his intervention came too late, and Nari was killed by the Inquisitors.
Oppo Rancisis, Coleman Kcaj, Ka-Moon Kholi, & Selrahc Elous
Oppo Rancisis, Coleman Kcaj, Ka-Moon Kholi, and Selrahc Eluos were all names on a list of known survivors compiled by the Inquisitorius, as shown in the Darth Vader comics. Oppo Rancisis was a Jedi Master who served on the Council during the invasion of Naboo, and Coleman Kcaj was a Jedi Master who served on the Council at the end of the Clone Wars and was present for Ashoka Tano’s trial in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Not much is known about the other two, nor are the exact details of how they survived revealed in the Star Wars canon.
Gungi
Introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Gungi was a Wookiee Youngling with a bright future ahead of him – until Order 66. The trailer for Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2 confirmed Gungi survived Order 66, and he would potentially find himself a victim of double prejudice. The Empire hated Jedi, but they also considered Wookiees as creatures to be enslaved at will.
Kirak Infil’a
Kirak Infil’a was not an active member of the Jedi Order during Order 66. It was revealed in the Darth Vader comics that he felt the deaths of the Jedi the same way Yoda and Jaro Topal did. On the hunt for a kyber crystal, Darth Vader tracked Infil’a to a Jedi Temple on an unnamed moon. Infil’a managed to escape Vader, but the two clashed again in Am’balaar City. This time, Vader defeated and executed Infil’a and took the former Jedi’s lightsaber to fashion a new one for himself.
Naq Med
Introduced in the young adult novel Force Collector, Naq Med left the Jedi Order sometime before Order 66 and had a daughter with an unidentified woman. After learning about the Great Jedi Purge and a confrontation with the Grand Inquisitor, Naq Med abandoned his family to protect them. In the book, he was tracked down by his great-grandson Karr Nuq Sin, who possessed the rare Force power known as psychometry.
Ferren Barr
Ferren Barr was a Padawan when Order 66 was issued, and it is unknown how exactly he survived the initial execution. After his exile, Ferren managed to hack into a Coruscant Security Force hologram and learned of Darth Vader’s identity. With this knowledge, Ferren began recruiting people sympathetic to the Jedi’s fall in order to overthrow the Sith’s control over the galaxy. He was ultimately slain in battle during a confrontation with Darth Vader.
Eeth Koth
A Zabrak Jedi Master, Eeth Koth left the Order before the Clone Wars and settled down to have a family. Darth Vader and his Inquisitors arrived moments after the birth of Eeth Koth’s daughter, and the former Jedi was killed. His daughter was kidnapped for Palpatine’s Project Harvester to be trained to peer into the future on behalf of the Sith.
Zubain Ankonori & Company
Zubain Ankonori was a Zabrak Jedi who was first introduced in the mobile game Star Wars: Uprising. After somehow surviving Order 66, Ankonori was given refuge at a Jedi shrine in Anoat alongside fellow Jedis Mususiel, Khandra, and Nuhj, all-new Star Wars canon characters introduced in Uprising alongside Ankonori. Unfortunately, all four were ultimately slain by the Inquisitors.
