How to make a printable paper toy with a big mouth and a big mouth
What you need:
- Printable template (obtained at the end of the step-by-step tutorial)
- Painting supplies – markers, pens, pencils or paints
- Paper – Thick print paper is best.
step-by-step instructions
Print one of our lion models. Both are perfect for home use and you can do two craft projects on one small piece of paper, so the smaller one is perfect for classroom use (keep saving).
If your kids need to paint with markers or paints, they will need thicker print media. On the other hand, if you are using crayons or colored pencils, you can use normal photo paper. Heavy print paper is also durable, but may be a little more difficult to fold for younger children.
After completing the template, have the children color the lion. You can leave the background blank or design a background suitable for a lion (eg savannah or jungle).
Do you feel very stupid? You can also draw something on the lion’s mouth.
When your child is happy with how the big-mouthed surprise lion has been colored, it’s time to start folding.
Fold along the straight line of the upper lip – fold to fit the width of the paper. Create neat, clean folds.
The following trick might seem a bit tricky, but it’s really easy. Grab the edge crease of the first crease and bring the crease back to the lower lip line. Align and press on paper. This creates wrinkles in the mouth.
Perfect! I made an amazing big mouth lion printable paper toy!
It’s time to play.
