Why just stick with the shark? Let the kids use their imagination and add other things to these printable crafts. Something hiding in the shark’s mouth? Let the children draw. Fish swim around the shark? Draw it too. The sea is full of amazing creatures that can be added to this expression to make it even more interesting. You don’t have to stick to a realistic design. Even sharks can swim in space.

How to make a printable paper toy with a big surprise shark?

What you need:

  • Our printable templates – or markers to draw your own surprised shark
  • Coloring Tool – We love to color this with markers, but crayons are best for little ones.
  • Paper – plain paper or thick print paper (cardstock best)

step-by-step instructions

The pattern, accessible at the bottom of this article, is available in two sizes. One with one shark per sheet and the other with two sharks. Both models are equally fun.

If you’re looking for a quick arts and crafts project you can do with your child in class, smaller projects are a good choice. Not only is this method more economical, but the actual craft doesn’t take long as the area for the kids to color is smaller. The smaller ones require a little more preparation time as you have to cut the paper in half.

Print the template on the desired paper. Plain paper works better with pencils and cardstock is better for markers.

Let the children color the shark model.

Crease along the top lip line (dotted lines have been added for ease of folding) – The crease should follow the entire width of the paper. Make sure the crease is clean and cross the crease with a craft stick or finger.

Bring the crease up to the lower lip and press the paper to smooth it out. This creates another wrinkle in the shark’s mouth.

Perfect! Now you can add your own design to this paper craft. Even secret messages from sea creatures or sharks’ mouths.
