Thandiwe Newton issues statement after Magic Mike 3 exit, replaced by Salma Hayek
Thandiwe Newton made a statement after dropping off from Magic Mike 3. Her sequel was in the film for 11 days when her actors left her role, and Salma Hayek replaced her with her undisclosed role.
According to a report by British tabloid The Sun, Newton dropped out of the film because of an affair with Channing Tatum, in which Will Smith defeated Chris Rock at the Academy Awards. Newton denied the charges.
“This report is completely inaccurate,” a Newton spokesperson told MailOnline. “The Warner Bros. spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter, “Thandiwe Newton is working to solve the family problem. “I’ve made a difficult decision to retire from producing Magic Mike’s Last Dance for Pictures.”
In Magic Mike’s Last Dance, Tatum returns to his roles as Mike Lane in Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL. The character is inspired by the real world experience of Tatum working as a stripper. Steven Soderbergh returns as director. He directed his first film and the sequel was directed by Gregory Jacobs.
Newton is currently starring in All Old Knives with Chris Pine streaming on Prime Video. She is also set to appear in Westworld season 4 and will be voiced in the upcoming Chicken Run: The Beginning of Nuggets.
Meanwhile, Hayek recently appeared in Marvel’s Eternals and Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci. In addition to Magic Mike 3, she has a role in Puss in Boots: Last Wish.
